We stayed at the Hotel Arcangelo for four nights in July. The hotel was on a quiet street with a nice roof top garden. It was very close to the Vatican City (5 minute walk).

Nicely appointed hotel - selected due to its proximity to the Vatican. Decor of rooms different , could be called stuffy , but nice for a change. Staff very helpful and friendly. Good selection for breakfaxt buffet.

quirky sidestreet bars celebrate aperitivo hour, those evening cocktails that help wash away the tensions of Roman life.

Did not notice any smoking in the hotel, but there was a very, very strong odor of smoke in the rooms. At the very least, the wallpaper, and curtains have absorbed the smoke smell to the point that a complete renovation would be required to eliminate it. We enjoyed the hotel otherwise, but if you have a strong allergy, I would book elsewhere.
