We stayed at the San Carlo in August 2005. It is right in the heart of Rome shopping and just down the street from the Spanish steps and the metro. What an awesome location. We loved roaming through all the stores right outside our door and wonderful outside cafes. The hotel is so cute and very comfortable and clean. Our...

Stayed a weekend here in early January 2006. Great hotel, both single and double rooms good size, great location for shopping, eating and sightseeing, great staff, helpful and welcoming. The only slight issue is that you need to be able to climb stairs, no lift, but this is a very minor detail!

Hotel San Carlo, hands down, is one of the best hotels I've stayed at in Europe. I'm a fairly seasoned European traveler and have stayed in my fair share of NASTY places. Hotel San Carlo was a clean, classy place with comfy beds. We the San Carlo in early September '05. We arranged for a driver to pick us up...

My husband and I stayed here on our honeymoon in the middle of December. First, the location is stellar. It's about 3 blocks from the Spanish Steps (and Metro stop), in the middle of the premium shopping district. There are many restaurants, cafes, shops, churches and monuments in every direction within easy walking distance. After returning to the hotel to...

We stayed at the San Carlo 15th-18th Dec 2005 for our wedding anniversary and could not have picked a better hotel. The location is ideal with no need for taxis, 2 mins walk from the Spanish Steps, 10 mins to the Trevi Fountain and 20 mins to the Colosseum and Vatican. We both travel extensively for work and this is...

We spent four nights here over Christmas and were very well received. The rooms were clean and good sized and the staff was very nice, caring and helpful. We appreciated the breakfast that was included in the price of our stay. It's located in a nice area of the city and is within walking distance of all of the sights,...

Our first stay at San Carlo, chose this hotel because we wanted to be specifically in this area. We were allocated on the top floor of the annex, and although very basic, the rooms were warm, spacious and clean. Lift available to the 4th floor and steep and narrow stairwell was uncomfortable to manage. Hotel should inform the clients in...

I stayed here for 2 nights in December. I'd read other reviews before I went and was aware that many people's experiences differed greatly depending on the room. All I can say is that I was pleasently surprised. We were given room 77 - it's quite a climb but well worth it for a great split-level room with private terrace....

A group of eight friends stayed at the San Carlo on 2nd Dec for 3 nights. My husband and myself were in the annexe as we had booked a superior room (115 euros a night). The room was quite spacious by Italian standards with a large bathroom with a tub that was much appreciated after all day walking. The mini...

My husband and I stayed here with our six year old daughter Nov. 17-22. We had a double room in the annex. They put a cot in the room and we still had plenty of space. The room itself was lovely. We especially appreciated the elevator in the annex. The main hotel does not have this option. The last night...

Staying in Campo Marzio

Neighbourhood Profile
Campo Marzio
From its original role as ancient army training fields to its present-day identity as one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, the Campo Marzio is the best place to get lost in Rome. Gorgeous Renaissance and Baroque palazzos line the streets, and are filled with enticing boutiques and food shops. By day, Rome’s best-dressed denizens criss-cross its streets in a fashionable parade of errands, occasionally pausing to look fabulous in gorgeous piazzas like San Lorenzo in Lucina.
