This was our 3rd trip to Rome and by far and away the best hotel. Right in the heart of Rome, it is steps from the Pantheon, my husband's favorite building. The breakfast was superb. The public spaces large but warm and inviting. We visited in November and the room rate was fantastic. Service impeccable. We asked for various types... More

I cannot say enough positive things about this hotel. It was a last minute in my plans while in Rome this week. I have walked past this hotel for years and when I found myself nearby in Rome, I decided to change places and I am happy I did. The staff is extremely welcoming and helpful. The rooms are very... I spent 5 nights at this charming hotel as part of a tour group. I arrived from the US before 8am and they had a room ready for me. The room was, I believe, a "single superior". The bed was comfortable, the room and bathroom exceptionally clean. The shower was a bit small, but sufficient. There was no view from... More

Hotel Santa Chiara is in a great location - about two blocks from the Pantheon and 4-5 blocks from Piazza Navona. Generally quite neighborhood, with lots of shops and restaurants nearby. Facilities and in good condition and very clean. We would stay here again - a good value for Rome.

Even though this is a rather old hotel (like most in the historic area), it offers a great value for money. We sepnt the first night in a family room in the renovated section (first floor) but the room was way too noisy, facing the street. The reception was very helpful and moved us to the older section for the... More

This is not a trendy hotel and its interior is rather old stylish. The breakfast is basic, but American. A true 3* hotel, nothing more. Still, you will love it because of its location and staff. Everything is in walking distance! Pantheon is just next to it! You can discover Rome without the need to use car, public transport, taxi,... More

A lovely hotel located just to the south of the Pantheon in Rome's heart, this is a great spot from which to tour Rome on foot. Trevi Fountain, Piazza Navona, St Peters, & even the Borghese Gardens & Piazza Del Popolo easy to reach. Rooms are not large, (where are they unless you pay a fortune) but simply & tastefully... My wife and I returned a few days ago from an incredible trip to Italy including a 10 day cruise on Royal Carribean sailing from Venice and ending in Roma. We found ASC in Fodor's "Italy" 2016. We confirmed excellent ratings on TA before booking through Expedia a few months in advance. Our email communications directly with the hotel before... More

A very good hotel with a unique location - just minutes from the Pantheon and lots of places worth to visit. The rooms were a bit small, but had all necessary amenities. The breakfast was more American than Continental.

Convienently located behind the Pantheon, within walking distance of many sites (Trivi Fountain, Spanish Steps, Pantheon, many of the churches, shops, ruins, wonderful restaurants). Staff is really very helpful and professional. Rooms are nice and bathrooms have hair dryers and 110/115 outlet for your convenience. Some rooms shower only, others have tubs, so could request if you have preference. Safe... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Who we are The history of the Albergo Santa Chiara begins in 1939. At the first it was a "wine-shop" then changed into a small inn, enlarged in the following years, the 10 rooms of the first days have become now 96, distributed in 3 adjoining buildings. In one of them is located the Saint Catherine from Siena's Chapel. The old lobby, on the contrary, has become a theatre. You can't miss a short chat at one of the table of our open-air bar, quiet and private, that overlooks the Minerva Square. The most affectionate guests love the wide and classic styled rooms, younger prefers the modern and high-tech ones. The hotel service is impeccable, the rooms are very clean and the beds are extremely comfortable. You will find this is a friendly, relaxed hotel that will make you feel right at home. The hotel has been in the same family ownership for nearly a century. The ground floor hall has seen the proclamation of the Popular Party by Don Sturzo, the rooms have counted the steps of Noble prizes such as Amartya Sen, Franco Modigliani and clergy men later be became Popes, politicians then elected Republican President, philosophers, artists, writers from Fogazzaro to Sartre to Banana Yoshimoto. ... more   less
