This is one we will definately return to. The most accommodating of staff. We were required to check out of our apartment nearby at 11.00am. However, our flight was not until 10pm. We decided to look for a day room and found one at Hotel...More
Clean, quiet, good neighborhood; next door to two fine restaurants. Lovely farmer's market. Air conditioning is excellent. They do have an elevator but you'll have to ask. Price extremely reasonable. One problem--one night clerk spole no English (and he was still there when we checked...More
Most of my dozen or so visits to Rome I've stayed in the Termini area for budget reasons. Never again! It's simply delightful to wake up in the heart of Trastevere and feel in the middle of a safe and friendly community, full of light...More

Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable
eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
Hotel Trastevere is a few minutes walk to buses and trams, there is also a light bus that goes to piazza garibaldi and continues to the Vatican. As for night life it's all literally just around the corner.....

We did the trip the other way around. Took the train from Civitavecchia to Trastevere and the tram from just outside the station to a short walk to the hotel. We had the hotel reserve a car for us to the airport on leaving so we were confident we would arrive in time. We each had a moderate size suitcase and are seniors, but managed fine. All the hotel staff are very helpful with any information.
