We loved our stay here, it was fantastically located in the heart of the city for most things to be walkable, but just away from it enough to not be affected by noise etc. Trastevere was a great place to base yourself to get a feel for Rome, just watch out for loads of touristy restaurants, but also some great...

Beautiful apartment, well equipped. Perfect for our 3-day stay. Very good location, friendly and helpful landlords. An outstanding place to use as a homebase (or: romebase ;-)) for a stay in the city. Highly recommended,

We stayed in La Gensola for 5 nights and really enjoyed it, particularly for the location. Away from the hustle and bustle of the main tourist areas, it was great to retreat to this apartment. Arrival process was great and we were in a hurry to make a tour so didn't get the full run down on how to use...

Great location. Walking distance to all major attractions. Upon arrival, which was confirmed fee days beforehand, we were greated by the cleaner and one very messy/unclean apartment. There is no reception area, so we were taken straight to the apartment. We were told that they were expecting us later that day, but in my email i clearly indicated our time...

Great apartment with the perfect location in Trastevere in a small square with a nice restaurant. Walking distance to the cosy walking streets and restaurants in Trastevere. The apartment is beautiful and everything works The staff is very helpfull and easy to communicate with. If you are very noise-sensitive it can be a little noisy in the evening because of...

We recently spent five nights at La Gensola and loved it. The apartment was spacious and clean and was in a great area. It's great for people who want to feel like they (temporarily) live in Rome. I wouldn't recommend it if you need any concierge services during your trip since this isn't an actual hotel, but I personally like...

An ideal apartment for our first time in Rome - We stayed for a long weekend and loved the location. Ideal for site seeing and for spending the evenings wondering through stunning cobbled streets finding places to eat. Could not recommend the apartment enough. We stayed in Apartment 3 which is at the top of some pretty steep stairs so...

My brother and I stayed in the 2 apartments for only one night. They could be connected if you unlock a door but they are totally separate each with one bedroom, one bathroom and a kitchen and living room. The apartments are very, very modern. Everything looks like it was just remodeled. The location is great, depending on where you...

Everything about our one bedroom second floor apartment was of high standard. The owner Luisa was very helpful and understanding when we arrived in Rome and our luggage did not arrive which caused us to be over an hour late for our check-in. The only minor complaint would be that the shower drained very slowly and water would splash out...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.

“You walk up a short flight of stairs to get to the apts. . The apt. to the left has a bedroom in a loft so more stairs - if an issue.”

“Think the upstairs apartments will be quieter but the stairs are very steep for anyone with mobility difficulties”

“We stayed on the first floor , up a steep flight of stairs that could be difficult for older people and suffered some banging overhead from next door's bedroom in the loft, however nothing too disturbing.”

“We liked the room on the first floor. At times we heard walking from the apartment above us and one night my son couldn't get to sleep early because of chatter in the fish restaurant on the piazza outside... which is a young people's hot spot apparently. Not a big deal though. There is a long flight or stairs to get up to the second floor apartment... glad we didn't have to deal with that. Oh, and if you have to call a radio taxi, get your own... the company listed in the apartment's manual was very impolite where we called and struggled a few seconds with the language... they hung up on us.”

“Up stairs did have a sloping roof above the cupboard used for clothes storage, which I hit my head on a few times, (I am only 5'3), so tall people need to be careful.”
