We stayed at this hotel on our last night out of Italy. We wanted something close to the Termini and with accessible places to sight see and eat. This hotel has a great location; and is in a nice quiet part of town. Very friendly, helpful and courteous reception and staff including Roberto. Easy access from the Termini and from...

We stayed three nights in Montecarlo Hotel and found it a pleasant place to stay. It actually had the feel of a good hotel unlike some others we stayed at on this vacation. The room was small but clean and neatly appointed. The air conditioning worked well and that was great since it is hot in Rome in June. The...

The hotel is in a good area with a lot of embassies nearby. It is handy to the main train station. The staff speak good English. The marble floor is spotless. The hotel is well maintained, but 1920's style. The bar was very cosy at christmas. The room was a reasonable size for italian standards. The cost was very reasonable....

The location was 10 minute walk from main station (airport arrival & train) also a metro stop even closer, but due to repairs it would be easier from termi. All staff encountered were lovely even handsome with great English & helpful navigating Romes buses. Rooms padded in material but didn't lend itself to noise proof but that was more neighbors...

Three wonderful days and nights in Rome for so many reasons, many of which are directly related to this property and it's staff. We found pleasant and helpful staff everywhere; front desk, breakfast room & housekeeping. The front desk clerks recommended both a restaurant that we ate at twice because it was that good and affordable, too. Another front desk...

We travelled to Rome in April 2010 and stayed at the Montecarlo Hotel. The hotel is situated near to the main train station in the centre of Rome, about a 5-10 mintue walk. This is also the nearest place you can get on to the Rome metro (both lines A & B) which can take you all around the city...

We had 3 rooms for 6 adults and 3 children. Two of the rooms (the corner rooms) were very spacious and above expectations--Jacuzzi tub, flat screen tv with satelite. The 3rd room was nice, especailly for a European hotel room. The rate was very reasonable--I dealt directly with the management and they gave us a price break since we had...

Nice, clean hotel at a very reasonable price. Not too far from the main Terminal station which was a plus. Continental breakfast was ok, nothing fabulous. Rooms were decent size and the bathrooms were nicer than other European hotels that I've stayed at before. My biggest gripe was no free WIFI. Traveling with a group of high school students who...

At the arrived we had a bad susprise. We were overbooked! There was no room, then they put us in a hotel nearby. Altough it was a good hotel (also a three star), the displacement was very inconvenient! On the next day we moved back again and the stay was good. Clean rooms, gentle staff. The breakfast could be better,...

I stayed with my famiy of 6 adults for 3 days in Rome. The hotel was clean and conveniently located to both the Metro & Termini. If you like to walk, a lot of the major sites (not Ancient Rome or Vatican) can be reached on foot in about 10-15 minutes. Breakfast was good and included in the price. The...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
