If you are expecting a good atmosphere, that's not the place to stay, except if you only want sleep without noise. It's very cheap regarding the location, but it's just this. The bathrooms are not cleaned properly, and there is no wifi in the badrooms as well as suggestions and recomendations from the staff.

It's a shame - as the staff were very friendly and really tried to help - but in the end our 4 night stay turned to 2 and that was 2 too many. The shower was stinking and did not work - it was either frightening freezing or even more frightening scalding and you just had to turn it on...

Dorm was not great : clean but no working socket in the room and no real character. Dirty showers (we hesitated walking bare feet...) and clogged sink. Toilets which tend to be disgusting... Some mattresses need to be changed. Apart from that, friendly staff. Possibility to leave valuable items safe with the staff. Great location if you arrive/depart from Roma...

I've been travelling around Europe for six months now and working while I go. I've stayed in a lot of hostels and, so, I have a good idea of what you should get for your money. I was coming to Rome to start a job on a pubcrawl and, strangely, had this place reccommended to me by one of the...

This must be the one of the worst hotels my partner and I had ever stayed at, especially within the medium price range. Our bathroom was filthy; the electric socket next to one of the beds was missing, revealing the wiring underneath; the bed itself was not the cleanest; and, despite the snow storm raging outside, the heating did not...

We've stayed at the Hotel Positano many times. We choose it because we're staff travelling with university students on limited budgets. Students stay in dormitories of 3-6 beds and staff stay in single or double rooms. Although modest in provision with small rooms we take pleasure in the reasonable prices and the location - only 5 minutes from Termini Station...

Hostel Positano is in a good location very close to the train station. We walked everywhere and never took the train. We were able to walk to all the main attractions including collesium, vatican, forum, etc. There are many restaurants and bars around the hotel which is very convienient. The hotel staff isn't the friendliest but were helpful. I had...

The location was very good, just around the corner from the train station. Close to a supermarket and a metro. But these are the only good things about it. The hostel was dirty and had graffiti and swear words and beer bottle stickers on all the walls. There was hair on the floor, the toilets stank and neither of them...

While staying here we got bedbug bites and a girl down the hall also did and we found the bugs on the mattress. The internet was only in the very small lobby and they shut it off a 2 am which would be find except for the time difference, I had to work around to get in contact with my...

Great place, easy to find, close to Termini, the main station with metro/buses. Our room was clean, bed linen and towels changed daily. Ensuite bathroom was surprisingly big and even had a bidet; fancy. Room had a safe in it and also a fairly big wardrobe and two mirrors. No breakfast - just a vending machine downstairs. Staff were friendly...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
