We choose to stay here last minute as a low cost option after a mix up with the booking at our previous accommodation. We were relieved to have a room that felt safe and with a warm and friendly front desk lady who welcomed us to our room. Be prepared to pay cash on arrival. There is no safe in...

First off, these rooms are only a four minute walk from the central train station in Rome - a great location if you have baggage to wheel around. Second, a good price and clean sheets = a good room. Not to mention, you feel like you're living in a small Roman appartment instead of a dormitory. I felt safe in...

If you look for a good, cheap and well connectted hostel is appropiatte. No luxuries, but clean. Also have free WiFi. Not includes breakfast, but many bars and restaurants in the área. A little dangerous near the station at night.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
