A big plus for this hotel is that it is located near Termini station (about 2 blocks) and it is very accessible to busses. This factor is very important when you dont like to take cabs since it can be a rip off. The hotel lobby is very small, but the receptionists are helpful and friendly. Rooms are located on...

We had a very good experience at this hotel. It is less than a 5 minute walk from Termini station, which was useful because we used Termini to catch a lot of Rome's city buses. Although we were close to the train station, the area seemed very safe, and we did not have any trouble in terms of safety. There...

The location is the the key value of the hotel. Besides being close to central station and Piazza Republica, there is a self-service laundromat 3 doors down for those who pack light and need to clean their clothes. I stayed here two different times, and it is true that in the first room on the 3rd floor, the air conditioning...

We stayed at Hotel Serena for 4 nights in July 2005. Our first impression was very good. The hotel was very clean and nice. The man who sat in the reception during the day was very serviceminded and helpful. He came with good recommedations for eating, travelling and sigthseeing. The hotel is situated close to the Termini Station, which was...

We arrived in hotel only to find that air conditioning was broken. They were not very nice about the situation. It was a holiday weekend and they knew it would be hard for us to find another hotel. They only took 5 euros off the price. The lady manager was very rude and unaccomidating. The man that was at the...

We had a three night stay at Hotel Serena in early June. The air conditioner never worked the time we were there. This meant we had to keep our window open during the night. The street is very loud and this caused poor sleep. The manager was very rude to us when we complained several times about the lack of...

We have just returned from Rome - spent 5 nights at the Hotel Serena, Via Principe Amedeo 64, Roma, 00185. Cleanliness OK They sell the rooms with air conditioning, but when we arrived the air conditioning was not working in our room - No 427. Complained and requested a room in which air conditioning was working. Checked out 2 other...

The hotel is situated about 400 meters from Termini station in a rather busy street, but the rooms have double glazing. So the traffic noise is not too intrusive. There are smaller rooms with a somewhat larger bathroom (like 311) and lager rooms with a smaller bathroom (like 310). The room is clean and the beds are very good (box...

We stayed at this hotel for 2 nights in September 2004. We checked in after having a bad experience at another hotel in Rome earlier that day! We found the hotel to be extremely well-run, very clean and safe. We paid 65 euros per night, including breakfast, for a double room complete with bathroom. The hotel is literally just a...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
