On a previous visit to Rome we had stayed in a hotel in the Manzoni area and found it was perfect for our needs, so we looked for an alternative in the same area. Gioia B&B looked too good to be true, but from the charming Francesco, the orange garden, cosy room, and right down to the breakfasts, everything exceeded...

The person in charge was very friendly and diligent. It is close to the metro station and about 15 minutes walking-distance to the Colosseum. The garden where breakfast is served is cozy. The theme Wi-Fi's coverage can be a bit annoying.

I visited this B&B in June of 2014 with friends... It's a great place. The staff are friendly, helpful, and have the place well maintained. Our stay included a simple breakfast -- which they were even kind enough to extend. The staff even tried to engage and have conversation with us when they knew we spoke minimal Italian. This place...

I was here in august 2014 and I can say that me and my parents were very pleased with the conditions. The B&B is located 2 minutes walk from the Mazzoni underground station or something like that. Anyway, you can get to the Termini station very easy. There is also a bus station that goes to both Ciampino and Fiumicino...

The rooms are clean and the staff are friendly. There is wifi however we couldn't get it in our room. Whilst they do give breakfast which is good, the quality of it left a lot to be desired. It's just about walking distance into the center, although I'm unsure of public transport nearby.

From the Termini to Manzoni was literally a few minutes. The instructions given at the time of booking, made it easy to find. However, it was just door, with numerous names on, and we almost walked straight past it. We was welcomed by the owner, although she didn't speak any English, and we didn't speak a word of Italian, we...

We researched hotels in Rome with car parking. We found the Gioia B&B which offered 8 rooms & on site parking. We reserved the parking on line with our booking. When we arrived there was no car parking on site or even a space on the road for the car. A complete lie. Also we were told we weren't in...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
