In 2013, we thought that with Domus Tiberina we'd found the right place to stay in Trastevere at a good price. But having just come back from a second visit, we've changed our minds. A small room was fine, but this one was uncomfortably cramped, with a comically tiny shower. Nice little clothes cupboards in keeping with the rooms have...

I have never written a bad review...but there's a first time for everything. I stayed at the Domus Tiberina in January. I can not, in all good conscience, recommend this hotel to anyone. Yes, the price was right...I paid 38 EU per night...but it was not money well spent. There are three people who work the front desk. The two...

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay in Domus Tiberina. The hotel is very charming, lots of character and not too far off from the city centre, It is easy enough to take the tram to Piazza Venezia or take the bus across the bridge. It was a great place to turn into at the end of the day. What made this...

The offer states "breakfast included", though I would better pay less for non-breakfast stay. The hotel doesnt have it's own place to serve breakfast, so they give you a receipt for Cronocopia restaurant around the corner. What you receive is a small glass of coffee and a sweet croissant. I didnt even touch those and didnt ask for breakfast receipt...

If you are looking for luxury, this is not the place. This is the perfect hotel to sleep, shower, stop, and feel safe. The rooms have some charm if you get one with a little patio as I did! It was lovely to look over and see the street life below. Having said that, it's very quiet. There was a...

I have stayed in quite a few hotels in Italy. There haven't been many that I enjoyed as much as Domus Tiberina. If you absolutely have to have an Americanized hotel, look elsewhere, but if you want to experience Roman life firsthand... this is the perfect place. The location is very convenient for exploring Rome on foot (the best way.)...

I loved this hotel! It was quaint and beautiful, a welcome relief from other more hectic parts of Rome. It was my first stop on a 1 month trip and the perfect jet lag recovery location. My room (# 20) was extremely tiny but I didn't care at all because I was traveling solo and it had a great little...

We wanted to stay in Trastevere this visit and booked Domus Tiberina at the last minute. We stayed in room 30 the first night which was super ,with a little patio over-looking a lovely square .very quiet and comfortable. However for the second night we were moved to number 27 - to be avoided as it is miniscule ! The two girls...

After a horrible experience elsewhere, the owner of the hotel greeted us with a smile on his face and helped us settling with ease. The receptionist was very kind and helpful providing information and suggesting good restaurants. They turned our ˝disastrous holiday˝ into a pleasant experience. We will recommend the Domus Tiberina Hotel to all our friend and family. Close...

I went twice in this cosy hotel, with few romantic chamber in a roman-style little house very near to Isola Tiberina, a beautyful small island on the river Tevere in the centre of Rome. People there have been very friendly and I suggest to stay there specially if you are with a romantic partner! I tried more tomes to go...

Staying in Trastevere

Neighbourhood Profile
Trastevere ("beyond the Tiber") is like a faded postcard, a little worn around the edges but still charming. With its wide-open piazzas, meandering streets, weathered Renaissance buildings, and overgrown personality, it's become an irresistible mecca for visitors. Trastevere is an enclave of entertainment - a rotating set of street performers entertains almost every night, and unforgettable eateries and bars pepper its piazzas and side streets. For a trip to the past, visit the southern and western flanks of Trastevere for pockets of yesteryear, less traversed areas with a residual 1960s and 70s Roman vibe.
