I booked this hotel via hotelconnect, struggled to get a hotel in Rome for our usual weekend away budget of £70 a night, this cam to a little over and I was apprehensive as Termini is not know as the safest of areas. However, once you walk from the station to the hotel you never need to walk around that...

It's not the first time I was looking for a recommendation on the hotel at Tripadvisor and just like all other times it helped me a lot. Hotel Espana is exactly what candid travelers told about it. It is a very decent hotel with nice attractive small rooms with more than attractive prices. First of all, the location. The hotel...

This was just the perfect hotel for us. Though the rooms were quite small, we had luxurious bathroom and we even had a balcony! The rooms are very tidy and cleaned every day. The location might not be perfect, but it's ok, near the termini (15 min. walk) and colosseum (15 min. walk). Of course you can also take the...

This hotel is ideal if your looking for somewhere reasonably priced, we stayed in a triple room which was spotlessly clean, so no complaints there. It is a bit far from the major attractions but saying that the metro system is excellent and cheap, so use that to get about. The staff were none too friendly, the breakfasts were the...

This hotel was relatively cheap and we thought that the location was fairly good - of course you couldn't walk to every Rome attraction, but then who'd expect to be able to? After all, Rome is a huge city! But we enjoyed the short walk to the nearest hop on hop off bus stop and found that this was an...

I just got back from a short three day vacation in Rome. The city was amazing and the hotel was a nice surprise. I invited my sister and mom to celebrate a book I've just released, but we had a tight budget, so we were lookin for something mid pricy. We payed 80 Euros per night for a triple, or actually...

We are a family of 4 and stayed in a quad room. The hotel rooms are reasonably large and very clean. Bathroom is also reasonable in size and also very clean. Hotel breakfast is good, cereal, croissants (custard, chocolate or jam filled), cheese, ham, rolls, tea, coffee (cappaccino), hot chocolate, orange drink. After the mixed reviews we read we were...

We booked the trip through CO-OP Travel after carrying out some research on the Web. It was our first time in Rome and having two children, 10 & 13, we wanted a hotel that was comfortable, safe and within walking distance of ammenities. We found the Espana offered a family room with two double beds (which could be separated if...

Clean and pleasant room . Hotel located in a quiet back street which gave a surprisingly quiet location for a city centre base. Simple buffet breakfast. Conveniently located for the railway station and underground, but , given the metro closed at 9pm, it was a long walk or taxi ride of an evening to a pleasant eating area.

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
