Very difficult to find. No air conditioning. Very noisy at night due to location. Very basic. Location is centralized and inexpensive. Breakfast was decent but not worth the extra 3 euros. You definitely are getting what you pay for.

Great location. Basic rooms yet all you need when you're out all day. Good breakfast included, nice people, great value for money, great wifi. Near restaurants and very close to the main train station, as well as one station about 200m away.

We were struggling to find a decently priced hotel in a good location. We had low expectations coming in, but this hotel was just not good. The Good: - hotel is close to the Repubblica Metro that you can take to the Vatican or other sites - within walking distance (a long walk) to other sights such as Trevi or...

We´ve been looking short-termed for an cheap accomodation near the city centre and found hotel alius. Reservation and Check-in was very easy and we had a clean and nice room with enough comfort. I can definitely recommend this hotel for less money travellers.

This is a very small hotel right in the centre of all attractions you would like to see in Rome. Hotel is basic but has all you need and it was a very clean hotel. The staff are excellent. If you are on a budget and would prefer to stay in the heart of the city then this is an...

My girlfriend and I arrived after a long flight to find our reservation made 6 months ago was cancelled. The man at the reception desk told us we had no booking and pretty much waived us away. We asked if we could use the wifi to contact our booking agent. Our booking agent told us there was most definitely a...

My wife and I stayed here for 6 days. We enjoyed every moment of our stay. OWNER and STAFF The owner and the staff demonstrated excellent customer service. Never once were they rude. The directions to the B&B were very detailed and easy to follow. LOCATION The location is ideal. Several busses run from the front of the hotel. Metro...

Hotel is located on 3rd floor through large wooden doors at 243 Via Natzionale. We flew to Fumicino and the hotel kindly booked us a taxi to pick us up for €50 each way (the standard charge is €48 per way with the white taxis around Rome). We found the hotel to have clean rooms wuth amenities for young children...

Good location for a low price. Situated on Via Nazionale a few minutes walk and you are in the middle of the main landmarks. The breakfast was ok, something to start the day with. Free Wi-fi in the whole hotel was promised. However you had to sit in the corridor near the router to get a connection. All rooms had...

Booked a double for 3 nights in March 2015 based on reviews and pictures submitted of the rooms. Once checked in, we were allocated room No 10. On opening the room, my wife nearly cried the room was so bad. She immediately complained but was told that all of the other rooms were full, but that we maybe able to...

Staying in Esquilino

Neighbourhood Profile
Esquilino
Old school vibe from the very beginning is the only way to describe the Esquilino neighbourhood. The Esquilino takes pride in being one of the oldest areas in Rome for its key location on one of the city’s famous seven hills. From an ancient neighbourhood to its modern incarnation as a multicultural hub, Esquilino always has something going on—polyglot vendors debate street artists while kids play pick-up basketball games. Look around you: this area isn’t like the historic centre. Liberty architecture, large piazzas, and long boulevards mix with archaic arches, secret side alleys, and beautiful churches like Santa Maria Maggiore.
