Wonderful place in the hills above Bologna. If you love nature, you're going to love it there! It features stables where you can learn to ride horses and explore the meadows and hills. A vineyard and a couple of nice restaurants are well in walking distance.

This is a pretty place- typical of rural Italy. They have a small horse farm and a few vineyards. We stayed in the main house where the family also stays. We might have been their first guests after the off-season, as we were there the second week of March. The room was cold and we had to turn on the... More

After spending a week along the Tuscany coast we came to the outskirts of Bologna for four days as we'd a wedding in the area. The old House is beautiful, set on a working farm and vineyard with stables behind (and a pool!!). With only three rooms this is definitely a place to go for some down-time, peace and quiet.... This is a lovely countryside in the Italian country side. The house is quaint and the location beautiful. We stayed for 3 nights for a weeding in the area. The staff (although they didn't speak English) were very accommodating and drove us to a local restaurant one night for dinner and to the church for the wedding free of charge.... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Montevecchio Isolani: a place of delights. For the palate, the spirit and the body: D.O.C. wines and gastronomy, relaxing or cultural holidays in the nearby Cities of Art, horse-riding holidays and equestrian tourism. he historic Palazzo Isolani, the monumental country residence which due to the typical, exclusive usage by the senatorial Bolognese family was given the name “Palazzo”, has a commanding view over the hills, where there are the wine cellars of Montevecchio Isolani and their vineyards, and the Agriturismo Montevecchio Isolani, ideal for relaxing or equestrian holidays. Since 1456, the Montevecchio wine cellars, dug into the hill below Palazzo Isolani, have conserved the wine produced in the vineyards spread over the surrounding hills, with the D.O.C. “Colli Bolognesi” among the highest quality Cabernet Sauvignon and Pignoletto – classic, spumante and sparkling – the pride of the local wine and gastronomy traditions. Right next door, the Agriturismo Montevecchio Isolani, taking its name from the Palazzo, offers all the peace and quiet of the countryside of the Bolognese hills, enriched by a swimming pool and the opportunity for walking, trekking and bird-watching. For children and teenagers, the Agriturismo Montevecchio organizes courses and weekends of equestrianism to practice horse-riding and equestrian tourism with horses and ponies, both in the stables and along the various horse-trekking routes in the Bolognese hills. The Agriturismo’s restaurant, respecting the ancient tradition of the famous Bolognese cuisine, offers dishes cooked to family recipes in complete accordance with the region’s wine and gastronomy heritage and the ethos of the Slow Food movement. Its strategically perfect position, a few miles from Bologna, makes the Agriturismo Montevecchio the ideal place for a relaxing holiday with easy access to both the surrounding natural beauty and so many nearby Cities of Art: Bologna, Ferrara, Modena, Parma, Mantua, and even Florence and Venice. ... more   less
