Unico is located en one of the small and narrow streets parallel to the main street and near the seafront. The room is relative small and basic, but clean and adequate. The bathroom has everything we needed. There's an okay café in the same building, were the food is okay and the service is friendly and with a smile. Our... More

We stayed here for five nights in September 2011. We arrived by train, and Adriano met us at the end of the tunnel. He directed us to our room, which was small, but had everything we needed, except air conditioning. There was a fan & a window, but it was very humid while we were there, and sleeping was uncomfortable.... More

I stayed here for 3 nights. If I lived in Monterosso, I would want to live here. My room was called 'Isobella' and had everything I needed. A double bed, wardrobe closet, tv, desk, mini fridge, bathroom... it was like my own little apartment without the living room. It is a short walk into 'the village' ie: about 1 minute... More

Unico is pretty basic, but it is reasonably priced and well located with no stairs, so a real bonus for Cinque Terre, not to drag bags up and down stairs! The owner, Adriano met us at the end of the tunnel connecting the two parts of the town. We arrived at the station and went to the tourist office who... More

This is a great base to hike the 5 cities... More than adequate, clean, great location and the owner is a great guy. We got VERY lost and stuck in traffic on the way to Monterosso and did not arrive until 1am... the owner was still available to let us into the room and explain a little about the area.... More

The room was cleaned everyday, even though it really wasn't necessary or expected, but still nice. The sleep quality wasn't excellent because there were mosquitoes, but then not sure if it would be too much to ask for the room to come with a mosquito coil or something rather. The location was excellent. I liked this side of the town(as... More

We stayed here two nights and to walk the cinque terre 'blue' trail. Monterosso was a good choice, as it's the only town with any sort of reasonable beach to cool off in after a long day's walking, and also it's at one end of the 5 towns, so it makes sense to walk down the coast and catch the... We spent two nights at Unico and loved it. The room was spotless, and in a fantastic location, with a view over one of the lovely little lanes. We called Adriano when we arrived and he was there in about 2 minutes, we paid, he gave us the key and that was that. Would highly recommend Unico to friends and... More

We stayed at Unico for 4 nights for our honeymoon. Monterosso was a great place to relax after the wedding! The owner met us at the train station and showed us to our room. The room was a good size, very clean and in a great location! The website was very accurate and we had a great experience!

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Located within the heart of the historic center of Monterosso only a few meters from the sea, in one of the most evocative and characteristic streets of the town, “Affittacamere Unico” was born in a recently restructured building, rigorously preserved in order to safeguard a part of ancient history as old as Monterosso. This charming hotel, with its characteristic ceilings, will not only give you the pleasure of all the comforts of home but will also give you the sensation that you have stepped far into the past into a dimension almost surreal. The name “Unico”, comes from the name that the Grandfather of the actual owner, “Mr Sciensa”, as he was affectionately called by the locals, gave to the main boat of his tiny fishing fleet. The rooms in the hotel are the names of the other boats that belonged to that old fishing fleet. All rooms are furnished with the utmost care and good taste each includes a large private bathroom with shower, hairdryer, minibar, fan and safe. The price per room per one night starts from 60 euro, during the low season, to 80 euro during the high season, everything included (everyday cleaning service included).Unico doesn’t serve any breakfast, at the same time, few meters from the hotel you can easily find nice café and restaurants. ... more   less

“Beware of using the clotheslines outside of the first floor rooms. We bought a beach towel, which was stolen the first time we hung it out. Adriano gave us a tip for a great restaurant. Highly recommend the Ristorante Al Carugio. The seafood ravioli is awesome! Also recommend the Pizzeria La Smorfia.”
