Hermitage was a gorgeous B&B with a beautiful view. Not for the faint hearted, we made the mistake of trying to take our luggage up thinking it wouldn't be so bad for a fit young couple! It was really hard work and we had to have numerous breaks, very steep incline and over 400 stairs. But it's nice if you...

While the ~450 stairs uphill are definitely sweat-inducing, when you aren't carrying luggage the trek isn't too bad...the views are totally worth it. The B&B itself is very nice, everyone who we met there was friendly and helpful. The breakfast in the morning was good and the terrace is a perfect place to sit and read. If you don't mind...

Ok, first thing first, there are 400+ steps to get up to get there but don't worry it is well worth it. Arriving through this tiny little green gate we had no idea whether this was where we were meant to be, walking up there steps meandering between lemon trees we found ourselves at the house. Greeted by the lady...

Don't underestimate the clamber up the steps to get to this lovely, tucked away little place high above the sea, but don't at all let that put you off! It's so worth it, I stayed here with my boyfriend, both early 20s and we were hiking the Cinque Terre trails and this little place just fitted the bill to stay...

You may be attracted by the photos of this place but you will get the same view of the sea from the trail running in and out of Vernazza - you don't have to stay here to have that lovely view, and you certainly don't want to say here for the accommodation. Our room was poorly lit, with old furniture,...

This place is a wonderful gem, but DO NOT underestimate the amount of hiking you will have to do to get there from downtown Vernazza! We are healthy and in our mid-twenties, but hiking back to your room from town (especially with a backpack) was a work out! Be extra careful in the rain, as the old stone steps can...

Yes, it's a hike to get there--as detailed by others--and we thought we were prepared. But truly, it's a HIKE up about 420 stone steps. Pack lightly! We were greeted with cold glasses of water upon arrival, a nice touch. Pros: quiet; wonderful beds; clean, modern bathrooms; great coffee; big patio overlooking the sea Cons: no toiletries (soap, shampoo); faint...

We spent 2 weeks traveling to all the Italian "hot spots" and found these accommodations the best! We loved how it was tucked into the trails--made for a beautiful view away from the crowds of people in town, but was close enough to walk to town for dinner and make our way back in the dark (with the help of...

Angela and Marco were such sweet and warm hosts, offering us drinks when we came and making us feel at home. The views from the terrace are absolutely gorgeous. I would have loved to stay there longer. The room was beautiful and clean. The walk wasn't bad really - just take your time and enjoy the views along the way...

We stayed 4 nights here and had a wonderful time looking over the Ligurian Sea from our balcony enjoying the peace and quiet. Marco gave us a tour of his gardens, and we sampled from the fig trees and grape vines. As we were leaving for dinner one evening, he was having a glass of wine with a neighbor and...
