We took the cable car from Rapallo to Montallegro and, after a short walk, stopped at the Hotel-Ristorante-Bar Montallegro. The bar has an outside seating area with great views across the bay to Portafino. A pleasant place to stop for a drink or snack. Friendly service.

Located at the top of Montallegro this is a warm, friendly family hotel with excellent views. Although it takes a good twenty minutes to reach by car from Rapallo there is a discounted cable car service that runs every half an hour that takes just eight minutes or so to take you into the town of Rapallo. A very peaceful... More

We stayed here this week, it has been perfect! The location was idealic, the food faultless and the staff so helpful! Our room over looked a beautiful view of the bay and was clean and adequate for our needs. We stayed for 3 nights and ate in the restaurant each night. The fresh sea bream was to die for! will... this review is about the resturant, I didnt stay at the hotel but i found about it & about its restaurant by trying the cable car, Funivia . it was one of the best dining experience. fine food for reasonable price. The ambiance of the wood that overlooks rapallo santa margherita & portofino makes it magical. its best if you... More

Take the funicular in downtown Rapallo (which in itself is a wow-experience) and as you arrive at 600 meter walk up to this quiet hotel and restaurant. We had lunch on the terrace with an amazing view over Rapallo and Santa Margherita. The good thing is: the food is excellent. Fine and fresh and above all: not the average pasta... More

We spent two nights on the top of the hill, it was very quiet, nice and the staff was very welcoming. The rooms are clean, and what a view!! The breakfast is full of home made pastry. The only little regret is the road, if you wanna spend the night in Rapallo and get back to montallegro, be sure to... More

We found this place completely by chance and booked it without really appreciating its location. It is a long drive up the mountain to get to the hotel but 100% worth it. You can park just below the entrance to the Santuario complex and then need to walk up to the hotel itself, not far, 200m maybe - if you... More

It's been close to a year since the last review and as good fortune might have it, we stayed here for two nights just now. The hotel is indeed located up the top of a supremely windy and often narrow road. Traffic is light however if non existent so you will be fine. As a side note, do visit Saint... More

The hotel is up on a mountain which takes you away from the crowded towns and streets after the day's traveling and exploring. This is giving you a bigger picture and also a different experience which we really loved. Our rooms had the most awesome views overlooking Rapallo. The rooms were spotless, very basic but the cleanliness was of a... More

At first, I was a bit surprised to see how far from the city, Rapallo, the hotel was located. According to the map I see for the hotel ( at hotels.com ), it should be about 3 km away, but it is actually 10,1 km from the main road in the city, and about 20 minutes drive ( mountain roads... More
