The rooms are quite large, bedding is good, however the whole style would benefit from some refreshing as it looks like time has stopped in the early 80's.... The hotel is located in the quiet area of Brera, well connected to the subway and the tram and bus networks that will bring you anywhere in Milan. All in all, a...

This hotel was a great disapppointment. The desk staff were incredibly rude and off-hand and not at all helpful. We stayed in the family room which was much smaller than appeared in the photographs - the bathroom was very small and the shower was poor. I would not recommend this to anyone - this was not a good experience. Stay...

We stayed here for four nights whilst sightseeing. The room was dark and depressing with a small bathroom, however the breakfast was good and the dining room staff very pleasant. The reception staff were incredibly unfriendly and unhelpful being reluctant to help with any information, eg how best to get into the city centre. This is a poor hotel for...

This hotel is well located, close to quite a few bars and restaurants in a fashionable area. The decor in our room was in pretty good condition, as was the rest of the hotel. Unlike the previous reviewer we did not encounter any problems at breakfast which, by Italian standards, was about par for the course. When we checked in...

Good location, but distinctly average hotel and wasn't what we expected from a 4 star hotel. Breakfast room way too small which meant you often had to queue to get a table and the breakfast itself was limited and the food ran out on a couple of days of our stay. Front desk staff not particularly welcoming either. Not great...

Stayed here overnight on a business trip. The Tripadvisor review that calls it "bland" isn't really wrong - granted, it's not packed with character but it's actually a very decent place to stay and I would definitely recommend it to business travelers and tourists alike. The location is great - really close to Linate airport and not far from the...

I immensely enjoyed my stay at the Carlyle Brera. It was an easy subway ride from the train station. The reception staff was hospitable, helpful and spoke excellent english. The rooms were clean and bathrooms contained all necessary toiletries (shampoo, toothbrush, hairdryer etc). The buffet breakfast was fantastic! Cereal, yogurt, fruit, bacon, eggs, pastries, beverages etc. Good hours also (7am...

To be frank, this is a rather bland hotel with appalling service, but at 99 euros for a good, standard triple room there isn't really anything to complain about. Moreover, it manages to dish up a good buffet breakfast (a rarity in Italy) and has a great central location. Especially recommended for one-night break-of-journey stays on the way further South...

We recently returned from our stay at the Carlyle Brera for the Milan furniture fair. We enjoyed the room, particularly the small balcony, the clean, modern room design and the only down pillow we experienced in 5 hotels in Italy! Also, the location was great--very central, walking distance to Brera, the Duomo, etc. with a Metro stop right outside the...

I can't fault some aspects of this hotel. It's centrally located, a short taxi ride from Linate airport and close to the central railway station if you need to reach Malpensa airport by the fast train service. The breakfast buffet is excellent. The staff were generally helpful. What spoilt the hotel for me was the size of the single rooms....

Staying in Brera

Neighbourhood Profile
Brera
Brera captures the real essence of the city. It is an excellent mix between history and modernity, where tradition meets innovation. Here design and beauty reign. On Via Brera there are the famous Pinacoteca (galleries), the National Gallery of Modern and Antique Art, and the Academy of Fine Arts. Interior design boutiques and intellectual cafes are typical of the district. Walking along Via Madonnina is a must to admire the architecture of buildings and the design stores. On Sundays, going to the local market is an unmissable opportunity for fashion, style and art. Tucked away, there is the Orto Botanico di Brera botanical garden that seems like a painting framed in an ancient fairy structure. Last but not least, it’s worth a visit to Giardini Pubblici Indro Montanelli with its Planetarium, the Civico Museo di Storia Naturale (Natural History Museum).
