First of all this is only a 3 star hotel, so we did not expect too much. The location is fantastic and all inside the hotel was a pleasant surprise. The room was spacious, clean and tidy with everything we needed, including a large shower room. The walls are only painted but nothing wrong with that. It looked out onto...

We were 3 single men in our sixties in Milan for 2 nights in Sept 2016 to see the opera. This hotel suited us perfectly. The location is great just around the corner from the Duomo, the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele, the Museo del Novecento and la Scala itself. It is also quite close to the Sforzesco Castle and the Brera...

I've stayed in this hotel for 1 night in a single room in September 2016. The location couldn't be more central. It's literally 2 minutes away from the Cathedral, walking distance to all attractions. Subway station very close too. Check-in was efficient and quick. My room was small, the bathroom extremely so, and looked somewhat dated and worn, though there...

The hotel is very well located, only steps from Piazza del Duomo, a Metro station and shops and restaurants. The room was comfortable and the bathroom was really spacious. The breakfast was really really good, offering fresh pastries, bread and fruits, juices and deliciously strong Italian coffee.

Our family had three rooms here in July. The best thing it has going is the location and value. It is a typical urban Italian hotel with the challenges that brings. Good air conditioning. Breakfast ok. Jimmy was the best worker there. He was very helpful.

This hotel is literally a few meters away from Piazza Duomo. It is basic but very clean and with a lift. Wi-Fi a bit weak but works well enough. Rooms are rather small but to be expected with such a centrally located hotel.

This hotel was in an excellent location at an affordable price. Walking distance to San Marco's and had great restaurants near by. We had a double room on the first floor which I would reccomend if you can not climb stairs as it is only one flight up (there are no elevators). I also requested a room with a bath...

I spent 3 nights here at Hotel Rio Milan. All the staff are lovely and very helpful. Free breakfast and great coffee.. Air con in all rooms :) Currently under renovation but did not disrupt my stay. When complete it will be beautiful. Would definitely stay again.. Only marked as 4 star because the shower door was a little dodgy...

Staying in Centro Storico

Neighbourhood Profile
Centro Storico
The pulsating core of Milan is in Centro. Duomo Square is enclosed by the gothic cathedral, the historic icon of Milan. However, shopping is what draws most crowds to this area. The classy and versatile Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II with luxury boutiques and high quality restaurants will turn any shopping or lunch expedition into a royal experience. Head to the rooftop of the flagship La Rinascente to enjoy the view of the animated square with a panorama of the Duomo. The Corso Vittorio Emanuele II is the street for high-end shopping. Brands of all kinds and street artists attract the attention of all visitors; while at Via Santa Radegonda 16, Luini Panzerotti is a much appreciated street food shop providing unimaginable culinary experiences. If shopping takes its toll on you, consider visiting Castello Sforzesco, a 15th century castle housing several museums. Those looking to relax can go to Parco Sempione, where nature provides respite from the energy of this dynamic and international city.
