Paolo, Carla and the entire staff made our visit a magical experience. The rooms are clean, comfortable and charming. The food is exquisite (don’t miss the minestrone soup, the honey and beer grilled pork, the cheese sampler, the bagna cauda!). But more than all that is the inescapable sense of joy, tranquility and hospitality that make a stay at Da Nonna Carla absolutely stunning. We can’t wait to return!
this is tucked away in a little Piedmont village. Lots of wine available and some nice food. Excellent hosts and big bedrooms with good bedlinen and nice sized, warm, bathrooms. It felt very homely. No menu. Just eat what you get
A great place to stay and also relax! Paolo & Carla are the owners and with great pleasure they serve their guests and make sure that you‘ll have the best service. Quiet place and very clean and nice rooms. Excellent food and wine. The breakfast was a bit disapointing comparable wirh other locations. But - all in one for sure a place to spent more time as it is close by Asti, Moncalvo (very nice little town) and Alba.
We arrived without reservation but after a short phonecall to the proprietor by the kind caretaker we had a very pleasant and well appointed room with french doors to the yard. The room was very clean and big (+40 m2) with a pleasant bathroom with a tub. Although we were the only guests that day, we were asked if we wanted to have dinner at da Nonna Castle. Luckily we said yes: the food was extremely tasty in a completely straight and no nonsense Italian way, made with local produce. To accompany the meal we had the good wines of the owner, absolutely recommendable. Next morning the included breakfast is equally recommendable with tasty charcuterie, cheese, homemade jams and fruit. da Nonna Carla is in a small and very quiet hamlet in the midst of the hills and fields of the Monferrato area. Its a perfect place from where to explore the beautiful villages and countryside of the area. Highly recommended.…
Can't say in words how amazing this agriturismo is. The typical piemontese food, the wine tasting, the people.... the service and the talks with paolo. we definately will come again to paolo!! Greets from salisburgo
We stayed here for 2 nights and were met by Paolo, a very passionate, warm person... He took great care of us, and served a good dinner.. The next day Paolo wasn't there and gone was the magic... Terrible breakfast and the 2nd dinner was no good, the heart was out of it... Although our italian is rather good they didn't bother to converse... Rooms are very spacious and the garden well kept but not enough garden furniture...and it was only the four of us...
We stayed at da Nonna Carla in August 2013. The room catered for myself and my wife along with our two children aged 4 and 2. After an amazing holiday taking in some incredible places we feel obliged to inform others of the fantastic experience we encountered. Paolo has a gift for hospitality and for choosing the correct wine to go with the delightful meal cooked every evening. The location and its surrounding countryside should be enjoyed at a relaxed pace which after the bustle of the busier tourist destinations was very welcome.
You are warmly welcomed by Paolo who will from then on look after you like an old locandiere whose only interest is to ensure you will enjoy food and wine and a warm room. His passion is the key to the success of this Agriturismo. Rooms are essential, clean and tidy but it is definitely at the table where you get the most of the experience. We had for slightly less than 30 euros an amazing Barolo. The attention in selecting the best ingredients make the difference of the simple but delicious dishes. You do not want to miss the BRASATO! Definitely recommended.
We stayed at Da Nonna Carla last year and enjoyed it so much we returned this year! The rooms are lovely—spacious, nicely appointed, clean. The host, Paolo, is friendly, helpful, companionable, while not overbearing. And the food is delicious, both the delicious breakfast spread (with coffee and eggs to order) and the don’t-miss dinners. You’ll need a car, as Alfiano Natta (Sanico) is out in the sticks, but the quiet and comfort make it well worth the drive. This visit, we held a family dinner at Da Nonna Carla, a Sunday afternoon sit-down for 20, and it was tasty, comfortable, and great fun! Paolo ensured that details were handled, so that we could relax and enjoy. We look forward to our next visit!
we received a very warm welcome on a cloudy and rainy Sunday and the kitchen was open only for us! the food is delicious and home made! Paolo is a great host! He gave us very practical advices to go around before dark as the bad weather had interrupted all our plans! My husband is a fan of the wine so we even got time to have a wee chat with Paolo about his wine and area wine productions as that is the week for vendemmia from Paolos vineyard! Besides their fantastic hospitality, the home made tipical locale wine and food, the clean room and big and 2 meter long bed you could find it is also easy to move around to reach some other nice places within 20 mins drive! We are not talking about 4 star holiday resort so there are things you wont find here like wi fi or hair dryer. But if you would find this is a genuine country home run by a family and treat you like a family. we had a wonderful and relaxing time. We arrived home in milan with 8 bottles of barbera wines and Paolos home made jam!! yammmy! Yi e Francesco…
