Excellent location (vaporetto line 2 San Basilio station), walking distance to all sights, amazing atmosphere! We had a room with private garden which was great. Very helpful staff, patient to kids. We hope to come again!

We stayed in Avogaria for 4 nights in March 2016. When we arrived we got upgraded to a Junior suite which was a grat surprise! The hotel is really small with only few rooms and it has a special intimate atmosphere. The staff was very nice, helpful and polite and spoke good english. Brakfast is really basic. The location of...

We have just returned from a very relaxing break in Venice. The hotel has a perfect location, close to the main sights and off the tourist trail. A little quarter of the real Venice but only 20 minutes walking to St Mark's square. The decoration is well considered mix of old and new and everything is clean and well taken...

This was our third visit to Venice. We have previously stayed on Lido and near St Mark's Square, but we hadn't explored this area before. This small hotel was easy to find, and a short walk from some terrific bars and restaurants. Furthermore, it was close to the Accademia and the Peggy Guggenheim. The walk to St Mark's Square took...

This hotel is by far one of the worst I haved stayed in. There are no tiolet papers, rude staff and a market bought selection for breakfast. The location too is difficult to find and wifi connectivity is poor.

The hotel is not centrally located to the major sites of Venice, but it's comfort and excellent service more than off-set the extra steps you'll take. I stayed here for a week in November 2015 and found it to be a delight; excellent restaurants close by, small shops without the tourist hassle, 10 to 15 minute walk through the real...

We loved our stay Avogaria Locanda as it was so close for us to board our Cruise, close to lovely eating spots, and within walking distance to St Mark's square. The Proprietors were so friendly & helpful, and gave us a lovely breakfast - a really great location and revisit to Venice 1

We booked this room (Junior Suite with private garden) in February 2015 . This room is as beautiful as it is shown on the website! We had absolutely wonderful days in this little hotel! All are very friendly, breakfast is very good and it is near to the centre of Venice! It is also in a quiet location. We can...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
