This little restaurant is definitely worth the extra walk out west along Calle Lunga san Barnaba towards San Sebastiano. Lovely atmosphere and excellent kitchen. We had a delicious monkfish with sesame seeds, poppy and honey together with an equally delicious beef tenderloin which we washed down with a very gluggable sauvignon blanc called Mejo. The complimentary amuse bouche and limoncello...

A lovely hotel, beautiful location, excellent decor. The big bonus of staying at this hotel was the lovely out door court yard. However a few small things that would make this hotel more appealing would be to have tea and coffee making facilities in the room. The fridge could have been colder and although we did not go to Venice...

Stayed here for four nights in May, excellent location and ideal away from the bustle. Francesco attentive and was able to assist with any queries. We stayed in room Uno, which was spacious, had air conditioning, a safe, mini bar (not expensive) and a huge bathroom with a double walk in shower/wet room. It overlooked a small courtyard and was...

This hotel has only three or four rooms. We booked one of the smaller ones but were upgraded to the largest one, which was really nice. The styling is modern without being sterile. It's very quiet. The breakfast was good and the staff were very friendly and helpful.

We are travelling through Italy on our honeymoon and chose the Avogaria because it was in a great location and had was very competitively priced. The rooms are are really quite large and our room "Tre" had its own courtyard. Breakfast was included and was a delightful start to the day. The host couldn't have been more welcoming and all...

A friendly italian told me about Avogaria and I'm glad he did! Located outside of the tourist centre and not in a large generic hotel it was just what we were after. We stayed in room Due - the hotel has just 3 rooms. It was clean, quite spacious with a great bathroom and outside courtyard. The walk was about...

This hotel wasted my time and money. the manager was very rude and everything was over priced not to mention the room was not exactly clean. I am also not happy with the way the manger speaks to his customers. he is just really vial. I also saw some insects in the room but at that point i stopped caring...

It's very interesting to read the only 3 reviews you wrote: 1) Anjuna: Nah Not worth it; 2) Sands of Glenfield: Dont Bother; 3) Avogaria Locanda: Dont Bother ... How unlucky you are.

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
