If you are someone who requires service in the afternoons or evenings, this is not the place for you, as it is not staffed much after noon. Also, if you arrive after noon, your keys are in the mailbox which does not get communicated well. That aside, the B&B is perfectly located. It is an easy walk to St Mark's... More

We had a wonderful stay. The location is perfect. On the Grand Canal in a more quiet area but a close enough walk to get to the center. Rooms were spacious. Only 2 of them have the water view. Breakfast was Continental but good.

When we left The owner told us to we still had to pay the room. We where confused because we thought we already payed it weeks before. But we trusted them and payed again at the check inn. When we got home we checked our payments and yes we payed months before we arrived at the B&B. When we contacted... More

Two couples stayed across the hall from each other. We were down the "street" from the Canal with no view, but the rooms were very comfortable and the bathrooms were much nicer than what you typically find in Europe. The staff treated us like we were the only guests, including helping with restaurants and sights. The food there was very... More

We spent 5 nights in one of the spacey junior suits of the B&B overlooking the lagoon during our honey moon. The room is very spacious, with a comfortable double bed, exactly as depicted on the brochure and website of the hotel. The bathroom is fairly modern, toiletries were provided and the room was cleaned daily. The view was great,... More

BB in good position. Lovely view of the Grand Canal from dining room. Our bedroom at the back was adequate with large bathroom and excellent shower. Downside no view but could cope as we were not spending all day in the bedroom. We enjoyed the break fast everything we wanted. Our complaint would be as we had an early start... More

We arrived with good directions on how to get here - no key in the box as stated - found someone to let us in after a hefty trek with our luggage to the second floor. Wifi good, view from common area lovely. Our room at the back no views but no problem. Difficult getting in the door as people... More

What a fabulous place to stay, we were there for 4 nights for my 50th birthday and it was just perfect! You couldn't ask for a nicer host then Giovanni he was so helpful, he gave us advice on places to go and set everything out on a map for us. We had a lovely big airy room that was... More

I spent here just one night, but everything was perfectly fine. The key was waiting for me, the breakfast on the following day was delicious, just as the cappuccino. Perfectly located, next to the Arsenale, also very close to the Venice Biennale facilities.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
