My husband, sister and brother in law stayed here 1 night in November. Great location. Off the beaten path a little (not on Grand Canal), but right on one of the smaller canals by a bridge, which I think is more quaint and romantic. Close...More
We had a fantastic stay at the hotel. The room was huge and so clean. The breakfast was excellent and catered for myself (a vegetarian) as well my daughter who is gluten intolerant. The hotel was in an excellent location - easy walking distance to...More
Oh my, my husband and I expected a rundown, old hotel that had really small rooms, but to our surprise the room was normal to large with boutique style decore. The bathroom was totally updated and beautiful. We didn't have an issue with water pressure...More
Stayed here for 3 nights at the start of November. Our room was nice (the one with the spiral mosaic in the bathroom) the location of the hotel was great 2 minute walk to St Marks square and the same to the water taxi points....More
The hotel is situated a very short walk aawy from St Marks Square and the vaparetto stop which makes it ideal for getting around and seeing the sights, and transfers back to the airport or train station.
The hotel itself was beautiful, really nicely decorated...More

Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a
strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Dear Jastheime, Thank you for asking. It is a short and accessible walk from San Zaccaria to Ai due Principi. Once you get off the public ferry boat stop (San Zaccaria) you will see a monument on the waterfront. Find the small alley behind that will take you to San Zaccaria's Church. When you will see the church on your right, turn left. Then you will arrive on Campo San Provolo and turn right. Few meters and you will find our entrance on your right handed side (on your left there will be a canal with gondolas passing by). Total walking distance forseen: five / eight minutes. We hope this information will help you reaching easily and with no doubts our hotel. Thank you for choosing Ai due Principi. We look forward to welcoming you. Deborah

hi, we stayed there last month and loved it. the best way to travel is to take the boat from the airport (no buses in venice, unless you meant the water bus, i.e. vaporetto), and stop at S. Zaccaria, which is the stop before San Marco. This is the best stop for Ai Principi. from there, there's a very short distance to walk to the hotel, i would say under 5min, i've tried to include a google map route but it's now allowed by tripadvisor guidelines. if you go to google maps and input s. zaccaria and hotel ai due principi and choose 'walking', you'll see a very clear walking route of 4min and 350m.
the location is perfect, the staff is very welcoming and helpful, and the breakfast is not English! the quality of the bed/room we stayed in was brilliant. we had slept amazingly whilst there and it was very quiet. the only think i would say not to look at (and i mean, at all) is the tv. don't even bother. but who needs tv in venice?
if you stay 3 days (or more), buy a 3 day tourist travel pass which gives you unlimited trips on all the vaporetto's. they run very often and take you everywhere, don't bother with the water taxis and gondolas as they're expensive. venice can also be easily done by foot, but it's SO complicated to manoeuvre, you'l always need your google maps and internet ready on your mobile to guide you, the streets are a maze, and that's an understatement. the hotel is based in an area called castello which is great to explore, with many small restaurants. my advice also is, go as much as you can on foot. other areas that we enjoyed were dorsoduro and san polo. venice is an absolutely magical place, and if you have half decent weather, you'll be in for an absolute trip (literally and figuratively). enjoy. best regards,
ps wake up as early as possible and stay up as late as possible.
