Faultless stay for four nights to celebrate a very special birthday! Having organised a luxury private water taxi transfer from the airport, we were whizzed up to the Hotel's personal & private landing platform; all very glam & rock & roll & we were treated like Royalty from there on. The stunning history of the building has been sensitively preserved...

On our first visit February 2016 we were so impressed, we could not wait to celebrate another birthday in the magical 5 star luxury hotel. The main reason I originally chose this hotel was for the colourful very modern interior which is rare in the city. The Centurion Palace is a totally beautiful hotel which is stunning, so is the...

We splashed out on a grand canal view. It was simply stunning. The whole hotel is immaculate and contemporary yet sympathetically done. Great location. My only gripe is it's just too expensive, especially breakfast. That said it's venice, where two drinks in harry's bar will set you back 50 euros!

Background: we are a couple fortunate enough to have the ability to travel and stay in good hotels. We have stayed twice in this hotel and like it. The first time we had a fairly large and red room with a narrow view to the canal. It was very quiet. This time we had a suite with the bed and...

We returned to the Centurion Palace Hotel following an excellent stay there two years ago. We were not disapointed. The staff were without exception friendly and efficient. The room was clean and well appointed. The breakfast was excellent. The location is stunning.

After staying at the Metropole in San Marco 2 years ago this hotel had a challenge. Passed with flying colours! Lovely room, a little small but you expect that in Venice. Really friendly staff, especially Alvira in the lounge bar who could not have done more, recommending delicious Prosecco on Valentine's Day and who could not do enough for us....

The rooms are nice, the location is excellent, the staff are really pleasant and helpful, there is a nice bar area and I would imagine the courtyard and balconies overlooking the Grand Canal are really lovely in sunny weather (we went in January). As in just about every hotel in Venice food and drink are very expensive and there are...

Our experience in this hotel was mixed. Prior to our arrival every question that we asked was answered and suggestions made by an extremely helpful concierge staff. We had organised transfers to the hotel and once we located the driver after a couple of phone calls to the hotel all went smoothly. It was an interesting experience arriving via water...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
