we stayed here for a couple nights early Oct 2013. Yes its small and maybe closer to a hostel (20-30 youths were checking out when we arrived) BUT you are in Venice. If you want to enjoy your room looking at canals go elsewhere, but if you want a place easy to get too with suitcases from either the vaperettos...

Although the location is good - this place is not what it appears to be in the picture - very uncomfortable, tiny and smelly. quite a dump. its not really a hotel - its just some very small rooms in a very tiny smelly space - probably cos of the floods in Venice - the location is very good if...

Don't go there. Please, don't do it. Stay away; this hotel doesn't exist. Simply, there is plenty of accomodations in Venice: search for another one. You'd better sleep at the train station, or under the bridge.

We clearly had a better experience than the other reviewers and it's likely because we stayed in one of their four new apartments, located next to the hotel. I was expecting the worst, after reading the other reviews, but was surprised to find a very spacious and clean room with tall ceilings and a nice en-suite bathroom. The room was...

Hotel, no its not; it doesn't have a bar, restaurant, lift nor any helpful staff, just a cluttered mess of old papers & receipts etc and a lot of junk at the top of 55 + very steep steps that are almost vertical, dangerous really trying to get 2 heavy suitcases up there with no help from anyone...dirty disgusting carpet,...

This is easily the worst restaurant I have ever been to. Poor food and very rude service. The waiter tried to push us to order more than we wanted. The food was without flavour or quality. When I paid by credit card three waiters surrounded my table and harassed me for not paying cash.

Terrible accomodation. Shower had mould growing in it. No towels. Reception staff not helpful. Knew there was no lift as said on booking.com but stairs ++++. Portable air con very very noisy. Only good thing was location. Very very basic and very overpriced. Breakfast croissant bad coffee. Nothing else was offered. We are a mature couple not looking for 5...

This is one of the worst hotels I have ever stayed. We stayed for just one night in July and I'm ever thankful that we didn't plan staying more than one night! The location of the hotel is excellent very close to the Train station and the ferry stop, but apart from that there is no redeeming features of this...

We are group of 5 people and stay in 1 double and 1 triple room. Fortunately, we stayed there only for a night! Location: Only the good thing of this B&B. It's not too far from the train station or bus boat and you can find place to eat around. Room: Since the entrance of the hotel, it was shocking...

We were very excited to be in venice, the hotel room is very small in a historic building, staff is very friendly , good views from the room. They can improve on the breakfast ( its just "1" croissant and "1" coffee).\ Location is great , its very close to the train station so you don't have to lug your...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
