Location was tops - just across the canal from the train station, but that was about it. The staff were rude and talked for about 10mins while we waited to be checked in between themselves. The lobby smelt a bit off too.. No lift, which sucks in general, but you get over it after 2 months of doing that anyway!...

Just returned from staying here and I must say it is a little gem very clean and the location is spot on it's literally a 5 min walk from the bus station on the right hand side which saves you a bucket load of money as you won't need to get the vapporetto looks a little tired on the outside...

Kind service, clean and expectacular. Would stay there again every time I come back to Venice. Breakfast was really nice and there was a perfect variety of options. The room's decoration looked really nice. Bathroom was perfect, cleand and big. We really loved the place. Recommended always. Thanks a lot!

Because it is located at the begining of the canal you will be stay away from where all the museums and things going on. Ferry stop is just opposite the hotel though. I can just say standart hotel. I paid for internet which was odd. Breakfast was fine and staff was ok.

Really well run hotel, clean bedding, clean towels, well serviced rooms in a superb location. Only reason it didn't get 5 was it needs a refurbishment especially in the bedrooms and bathrooms. Overall though loved my stay in Venice.

And so the negatives of this hotel begin... - 7:30am - 10:00am very very loud talking, loud annoying phone kept ringing, constant banging, little care for our sleep, right outside our door! This happened every morning, got so bad I had to get out of bed to tell them to be quite. Disgraceful way to treat guests, couldn't have a...

A friend who had stayed here a few times before recommended it to us. It is conveniently located near the train and bus stations. The linen and room was clean. The staff were helpful. Breakfast was filling. We would stay again and again!

This hotel seems to be a great value for money. It is well located right across the bridge from the train station. Also, if you come to Venice by car, its a diatance walk from all parking lots. The problem is that it charges wi-fi to all guests and dont let you make multiple logins. As we're already in the...

Pleasant and helpful staff, lovely location, ideal place to explore all of central Venice. Rooms clean and charming with a nice view of the Grand Canal. The breakfast was excellent, with a good choice of items. A good selection of restaurants nearby. Would certainly recommend this Hotel and look forward to paying a return visit.

My wife and I stayed here for a couple of days before departing on a cruise. We had an excellent canal view room. Price was pretty reasonable given rates in Venice. Location was helpful given our luggage. Close enough to the transfer station that we could walk, although the ups and downs for the couple of bridges we had to...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
