Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

An absolutely beautiful stay. A stones throw away from everything Venice had to offer. 100% recommendation to stay here! A quiet side at night but exciting and energetic during the day. The perfect mixture that we needed.

We stayed here after arriving in Venice on a cruise. It is so conveniently located, the staff are professional and friendly, the lobby is exquisite and rich in history. Even if you don't stay here, you should drop in for a drink in the lobby/bar.

This hotel is very elegant with historical story. We stayed here for 1 night and we loved it. The service is just normal compared to the price we paid. I expected more from them. Breakfast price is 53EUR while there were few items only 1 type of egg which was scrambled eggs,

A beautiful historical hotel. Nevertheless, the quality of the service is not acceptable. The hotel is not clean. The breakfast is just sufficient. A lot of lamp aren’t working. So just visit the hall but don’t stay.

If you like historic hotels, look no further. This hotel really tops as one of the historic hotels we've stayed in. There are tons of elements still in place including real physical keys for each room, and the original window holes looking out onto the water. We were separated

Yes they will store luggage - quickest way to airport is by private boat...not too expensive - there is a water taxi that stops in front of the hotel but it may take an hour to get you back to airport. We liked the private boat - plus it was nice to take in the scenery on the way back

Our travel agent Audley travel organized a private water taxi both when we arrived at the train station and when we left to go to the airport. They booked a guide to greet us at the train station to show us to the water taxi. The private water taxi picked us up from the side dock of the hotel! It was a wonderful way to travel. Enjoy.

I doubt the hotel would charge for kettle but you should call and check. You can certainly bring your own coffee pot. Hope this helps
