+Wonderful position, run down tired neglected building. Very rude middle aged male staff in reception and concierge desks. Luke warm breakfast on small cold plates. Overflow room,(408) air-con not working, malodorous drains in bathroom, bath had half inch of fluff, hair and dust.

The hotel decor is very eclectic, the rooms are luxurious and larger than I would have expected and the food is delicious and so fresh, why eat anywhere else? Try the pasta, served al dente as it should be, the buffalo mozzarella and the fish...More
The hotel has a great location close to St Marks square and on the Grand Canal. However you should note that only a few rooms actually overlook the canal and the majority are at the rear looking onto narrow streets. We had a front room...More
You can't beat the location for close to sites and transportation. Reviews about the staff being rude may be based upon some of them being a bit stand-offish. This is understandable given the number of rude and demanding guests they must accommodate. We found that...More
When we arrived at the hotel we were so impressed by the location. Unfortunately this is the only positive thing I can say about this hotel. The check in and concierge staff were offhand, dismissive and uninterested. The restaurant/bar staff were the worst I have...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
