You must sit on this terrace outside Hotel Monaco and take in the Grand Canal activity. It is just a few minutes walk from Piazza San Marco, but worlds away in quiet relaxation and elegant surroundings. Domenico is the manager of the terrace restaurant at...More
Fantastic hotel location - right next to Harry's Bar - and we were upgraded to a room with a view. Beautiful dinner on the terrace right next to Canal. A bit pricey but the evening suited the occasion for a romantic evening.
Yes, the room is a little small, but the ceiling height made up for it. Bathroom is lovely. The location cannot be better. Service was terrific! Single beds with harder than I'm used to mattresses and linen sheets were strange, but I've been told that...More
Its situation on, and view of The Grand Canal cannot be better than the one you experience from the restaurant and terrace of this historic hotel. With a little imagination you can easily think yourself back to the days when it was the social centre...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
