We couldn't have picked a better location than Piazzale Roma for a pre-cruise hotel. It was simple to take the ATVO bus from airport to Piazzale Roma for 6E, walk across the parking lot, cross one bridge, and check into our hotel. The staff was friendly and helpful; we were able to leave our luggage the day we checked out... More

We had a choice of hotels off of Virgin Vacations and chose this over the Olympia Hotel because we thought it was closer to the transportation. Actually, the Olympia is right in the SAME area as the Arlecchino. The Arlecchino is right near the bus station and water taxi, however, its going to be a little walking from the train... More

We only stayed for two days in Venice but this hotel was perfect for us. It is close to the Piazzale Roma bus station and we had a room overlooking two canals on a corner of the building. The rooms are on the small side but we were very comfortable and it was great watching the water traffic go by.... More

I've agonized over how many stars to give this review. The location of the hotel is superb- one bridge from Piazale Roma and the people mover, two bridges from the train station (both important to us since we arrived by train and left by cruise ship and didn't want to pay great sums for private transportation), and it's on a... A shower with no curtain means water on the floor, A small elevator, but by far the best continental breakfast of all 3 hotels I stayed at. Venice was cold. The staff was courteous, ans thehotel was located close to all transportation.

This hotel is right near the Plaza Roma the main bus station. The hotel is on the small side but then every thing there is, the room was small but workable the windows opened out to a view of the canals front and side, the pillows were shocking and street noise from restaurants went on to the small hours of... This was a great place for an affordable place to stay pre cruise. I was there three nights. The staff was top notch,Internet was good and free, decent breakfast. My single room was tiny, but efficient and clean. The location was convenient to the bus from the airport and the bus was only 6 euro. We walked to the people... More

This hotel is in a very nice location, but the rooms are so small that you don't even have a place to open your suitcase! The wi-fi is as slow as the rooms are tiny. The bathroom is a one person bathroom. The rooms are not very clean! When the tides come in, the sidewalk is covered in water. I... More

Very convenient for train, bus and vaporetti as very close to the main square. Staff here were super and could not have been more helpful. I travelled as a lone female and was treated with great courtesy throughout my stay with recommendations given for restaurants nearby so I wouldn't have to walk around alone after dark. The room, 803, was... More

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
