Near the Grand Canal and a short walk from the train station and 25th the bus station. Cute rooms, small but sweet. One of our rooms had a balcony. The air was not working in my room the 1st night, but they got it working...More
We stepped off our cruise ship wanting a hotel conveniently close to the port while in Venice too. There are hotels nearby more grand and with sparkly lights, large entrance halls too. Okay if that's what you want, but I suggest anyone looking for a...More
We only stayed for one night at this hotel after a cruise. Ideal location with the bus station (Piazza Roma) and train station (Ferrovia) just across the canal. Hotel sits in a lovely quiet canal, unfortunately we didn't have a front facing room. Room was...More
We loved the only room with a balcony overlooking the canal! The hotel was an easy 5 mins walk from the main entry point to Venice & to the people-mover that we needed to catch to the cruise ship terminal. The public areas of the...More
Room was good sized for Venice and location is excellent. It is a small charming hotel located just off the Grand Canal. Buy your Vaporetto pass at the train station, take the #1 from the train station to Piazza Roma instead of dragging your luggage...More

Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture
universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
