Just back from 4 night city break in Venice, booked this hotel via Expedia based on reviews and location and was not disappointed. In fact the hotel surpassed my expectations - We were given a free room upgrade to a junior suite on arrival, a...More
Beautiful decor. I was afraid in Venice ( inside the island) the Hotels will be old and depressing.
This hotel is beautiful, classy, modern bathroom, comfortable spacious and quiet room.
Coffee machine in room. It's not cheap but it's worth it! the only thing I...More

We hope to welcome you soon back at the Splendid Venice and remain,
This hotel is exactly as described and is in a fantastic location minutes (2 or 3 with moderate amounts of luggage) away from both St Marks square and the Rialto bridge overlooking one of the small canals.
Rooms are small but adequate and bathrooms luxurious....More
The hotels location between the Rialot bridge and St.-Marc square is perfect!
The rooms are ok, but the hotel is a bit expencive, but that's what you'd expect in Venice.
Great location to explore the city for a few days.
We stayed in this hotel for 3 nights. We had booked for a Deluxe Canal View Room but didn't get the Canal View but we didn't query it, so were over the restaurant, so make sure when you book in that you get the room...More

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

The taxi will swallow 6 adults plus luggage with ease. Depends where you start and finish as to the cost, which is for the taxi, not per person, so the more you have on board, the less the cost per person.

If you are going from the airport then the boat to Rialto is quicker (about an hour) than the boat to San Marco (1 hour 20 mins) so I would definitely go that route. We brought our tickets in the arrivals hall but there is a ticket booth by the boats so I would get them from there as there are staff to help which there is not in the arrival hall. They also have a private taxi but a lot more expensive.

The breakfast was continental. There was fresh fruit, yogurt, a large selection or pastry goods (however with an egg intolerance I couldn't tell you if they would be suitable for you or not) wholemeal and white bread. Cheese tomato and a few other things.
My advice to you would be to contact the hotel if you are thinking saying with them, they are so very helpful I'm sure they would be happy to meet any dietary requirements you have.
