This is a beautiful, elegant boutique hotel within easy walking distance of all the primary Venice attractions. The staff is fabulous- so service oriented. Hotel is slightly off the beaten track making it quiet and quaint but well positioned for visiting all the sites in Venice.

We loved the Bisanzio hotel. We paid a little extra and booked a room with a small balcony, the view was fabulous of the rooftops and churches nearby. Very quiet at night, had great sleeps in the comfortable bed. The bathroom was a bit dated but was clean and plenty of hot water. Location perfect as only a few minutes...

We loved this hotel. It's got a very authentic Venice feel. We had a room on the fifth floor, with great views of rooftops and St. Mark's tower. And it has an elevator! The location is superb -- just a couple of blocks from the lagoon, and on a canal (but without canal views). It's just around the corner from...

This is a very pleasant hotel tucked away in the backstreets mere footsteps away from St Mark's Square. Its proximity to the water taxi stop too means that it is an easy transfer in from Treviso airport. Take the bus from the airport to the outskirts of Venice, then the watertaxi. This transfer does take time but on the bright...

Wonderful hotel tucked nicely away from the hustle and bustle of St. Mark's Sq. A sign on the pavement at the entrance to the calle leading to the hotel was particularly helpful. Rooms were spacious and clean. All of the front desk staff were extremely helpful with both recommendations for dinner, places to see and things to do. The breakfast...

The hotel is at a very nice location, one can walk to St. Mark's square in 3-4 minutes..the staff is very friendly and warm and are ready to help in any way possible. We were assigned a room which is not in the main hotel but almost next door. The room was a duplex with a children bedroom down and...

Beautiful hotel very close to the Grand Canal and many tourist attractions. Has a lift! Staff were most accommodating and helpful. Overlooked a courtyard and windows can be opened. Breakfast was excellent.

This is a nice hotel in a great location. It is right next to the pier where you catch the water taxi. We stayed in the apartment style rooms with a kitchen, microwave, fridge, etc...You could sleep 2 adults and 2 kids easily here. It was very clean and very well maintained. What I didn't like is when the manager...

Hotel was centrally located. Lovely room in the 'new wing!' Hotel reception staff were so helpful and took time to recommend places to go to and those to avoid. Rooms were clean and beautifully decorated. Could rate this hotel highly enough.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Venice, in a location that is extremely quiet but close to all the principal attractions of the city, the Hotel Bisanzio occupies an ancient 16th-century palazzo that was once the home and “workshop” of Alessandro Vittoria, one of the most important Venetian sculptors of the 16th century and a student of the great Jacopo Sansovino. A recent, careful restoration has allowed the Hotel Bisanzio to preserve the fascination of an ancient Venetian palazzo that is, today, equipped with every modern amenity, to ensure a relaxing stay in a structure equipped with elevator, air-conditioning, LCD TV and Wi-Fi Internet access. Ease of access is not secondary when talking about Venice, where people almost always get around on foot. The Hotel Bisanzio is perfectly located, just 150 meters from the city's main public transportation stop (San Marco - Zaccaria), where all the lines for the other areas of the city and the adjacent islands arrive and depart. ... more   less
