Our first night in Italy was at this hotel. It was a fantastic first impression. The hotel is beautiful, the staff is fantastic, and did a great job getting us acquainted with Venice. The breakfast is great. The location is perfect.

Our travel agent suggested this hotel as a post-cruise overnight stay. I'd chosen another hotel for the pre-cruise stay (2 nights) - which possibly spoilt us for what is possible. I concur with other reviews that this hotel has a good location, but average to poor everything else. Our family was accommodated in an annexe part of the hotel -...

This report gives us the opportunity to clear that the hotel has a few family rooms in the annex, which is the building adjacent to the hotel. The rooms are big and pleasant and soundproof but I suppose sometimes you may hear other guests walking in the room above especially if there are children in the room. This is because...

We stayed at Hotel Bizansio in June 2013 at the end of our two week trip to Italy. We stayed there for three nights and had a great room. The staff is exceptionally helpful. Marco made our dinner reservations every night and his suggestions were wonderful. The hotel is clean, in a great location, and complete with modern amenities (including...

We chose this hotel in Venice because it has great location and the reviews were good, however, it did not translate into our experience. The location is indeed great just a couple of blocks from the San Zaccarias stop of the vaporeto and a straight shot from San Marcos Square. On first arrival we were checked in by the most...

This comment gives us the occasion to clear that our family rooms for 4 people can have one double bed and two bunk beds or one double bed and two single beds. The mattresses of the bunk beds are regular single bed size therefore when you read that only a five year old boy can sleep on that it sounds...

Venice is VERY expensive and this hotel is an affordable yet comfortable option. The rooms are very nicely appointed with firm beds and excellent AC. The staff is superb - very pleasant and patient. The location is perfect, within 5 minutes of St. Mark's square and right outside the public launch. The WiFi was a bit spotty, but the first...

This is a very nice hotel in a very convenient location. The people who ran the hotel while we were there were just so nice to us it made any difficulties we had bearable. The hotel breakfast was great, the room was great too, a nice size with a nice bed. We faced toward the interior and that was very...

The staff here are above and beyond nice and helpful. The gentlemen in the front are friendly and offer a lot of assistance. They were even more than gracious with a very rude guest. The breakfast ladies are wonderful and have nice smiles and set a lovely and filling breakfast that is included. The cleaning staff are honest and quick...

Nice rooms with spacious bathrooms. Very near the Alilaguna Linea Blu San Zaccaria stop. Breakfast area was large and the food was good. Very short walk to Piazza San Marco. Recommend eating at Trattoria da Bepi at Cannaregio 4550, SS Apostoli 30121 Venice, Province of Venice, Italy near the Ponte Rialto. Reservations are recommended. Phone number according to Rick Steves's...

This hotel is in a great location, just a short walking distance away from main attractions and the water taxis. The rooms very nicely decorated, very clean and the breakfast was plentiful. The staff at the front desk was exceptional, always friendly with great tips as to where to go and how to avoid the crowds.

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
In the heart of Venice, in a location that is extremely quiet but close to all the principal attractions of the city, the Hotel Bisanzio occupies an ancient 16th-century palazzo that was once the home and “workshop” of Alessandro Vittoria, one of the most important Venetian sculptors of the 16th century and a student of the great Jacopo Sansovino. A recent, careful restoration has allowed the Hotel Bisanzio to preserve the fascination of an ancient Venetian palazzo that is, today, equipped with every modern amenity, to ensure a relaxing stay in a structure equipped with elevator, air-conditioning, LCD TV and Wi-Fi Internet access. Ease of access is not secondary when talking about Venice, where people almost always get around on foot. The Hotel Bisanzio is perfectly located, just 150 meters from the city's main public transportation stop (San Marco - Zaccaria), where all the lines for the other areas of the city and the adjacent islands arrive and depart. ... more   less
