Large room but basic and very tired furnishings. Wonderfully central, ideal for getting about to everywhere. Staff great and so helpful. In particular I would like to recommend Andre who was on Reception, so very helpful and knowledgeable and also Lodovico the Restaurant/Bar Manager who was also extremely helpful and kind. Nothing was too much trouble, we would stay there...

I wanted to find a hotel near the train station, so I didn't need to carry luggage all over Venice. This was a perfect location. Flew into Venice, and the water bus 2nd stop was very close. It's only a block to the train station, which is how we leave. Great place for our 20th anniversary! Thanks!

This hotel we booked due to other ratings. We where not disappointed. A family of 4 fit nicely as we know European hotels are not huge like North American ones. It has and old world charm to it. We had a room over looking the Grand Canal which I thought was a bonus. A wee bit noisy with the water...

Dear Guest, thank you for your feedback on Tripadvisor. It's a great pleasure to know that you enjoyed your holidays here. It means that we are part of your beautiful souvenir of Venice. It's very strange that you have found reserved tables because our staff don't have this kind of instruction. We never reserved tables during breakfast time. We are...

This hotel was our home for two nights when we were in Venice. It's conveniently located (walking distance from the train station) and fronts on the Canal. There is a dining deck, where one can enjoy dinner and watch the canal traffic as well. The building was once the home of a well-to-do Venetian family, so in the remodeling, some...

We really enjoyed staying in this hotel. It was perfect location, a 2 minute walk from the train station. The staff was very very helpful. The only negative to say is the water pressure from the sink and shower weren't great but would definitely stay here again despite that. Was very well priced.

10 years ago we went to Venice and stayed in this Hotel which we absolutely adored, situated right on the Grand Canal minutes from the train and water taxi stations. When I read some of the recent comments about this Hotel I was afraid that something had happened in the past few years. We've just got back from a 4...

My boyfriend took me to Venice for my 22nd birthday present. My boyfriend was a bit disappointed in the room, he was expecting more. We went in November so it was raining but nothing could stop Venice being incredible, I love Venice in the sun and rain! I would 100% return to this hotel as it was next to the...

We stayed here for one night in March, the hotel is conveniently located near the train station. You can walk there easily in a couple of minutes and it was right on the grand canal. The reception of the hotel is well maintained and some people might call it "grand". There is a small lift to get up to the...

The location of this hotel is enticing as it is located right on the Grand Canal, and that did give us direct access to water taxi, etc. Otherwise, this hotel was nothing special. Even though it offered a bar, restaurant, and an outdoor patio, they looked and felt dated and were poorly staffed. We left after one drink and did...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
