The apartments are in a very good location not far from the main sights but away from the crowds. Able to walk to everywhere. The staff were friendly and gave some good tips on where to eat, where to catch the ferry to Burano and booking a water taxi to the railway. However their hours are limited. Most of the...

Highly recommended apartment in Venice. This is a renovated building with new apartments, our room was very spacious, clean and convenient located in a not a tourist neighborhood so you avoid the crowds, everything is within walking distance from there. Veronica was waiting for us at the the reception and she helped us with everything, you must ask for the...

This pristine and charming apartment transcended our expectations! As a hygiene fanatic, even I was impressed by the superior cleanliness and meticulous condition of our suite! The gold furnishings and spacious interior only added to its comfort and charm! We also loved the peace and quiet of the Castello region which was still only a brief five minute walk to...

These apartments are located in a good part of the city, about 10 mins walk to Piazza San Marco. They are clean and well maintained. The staff are friendly and helpful, organising a taxi for us and providing guidance with sightseeing. The issue with these apartments, as with all mid-level accommodation in Italy, you live out of a suitcase. We...

This apartment is very nice and is equipped with everything we needed even with nutella, jams, salt, pepper..etc. First we met veronica and she was very nice, friendly and helpful, she helped us, gave us directions to everything we needed, told us about the supermarket and the restaurants nearby. Everything was going well, we left the luggage and went for walking...

We absolutely loved this place and if we come back to Venice, we would definitely book the same appartment or recommend this to our friends and Tripadvisor readers. Veronica was very helpful (booking the Vaporerto, choice of restaurants, visits...), she is doing an outstanding job, congrats! We had appartment 104 , 2 bedrooms with kitchenette and separate bathrooms, sitting room....

What an amazing apartment. As we were arriving after hours, we had arranged for after hours pin code access which was all organised by Veronica. This went without a hitch. I didn't realise it was so close to Piazza San Marco - only about 10 minutes walk which was wonderful. Although there were four of us, I think we booked...

We stayed in a 2 bedroom/2 bath unit which was tastefully decorated, super clean and well appointed. AC worked well and the size of the bedrooms and bath were big even by American standard. The location was easy to get to -- 10 min walk to San Marco and yet away from the crowds. There are restaurants and shopping close...

We booked 2 bedroom apartment during June 2015. What I liked: Loved apartment and location. Friendly staff. Value for money, considering the peak tourist season. What I didn't like: No hotel pickup, we had to take a water taxi at EUR 70. Definitely recommend for family!

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
