What a wonderful stay to kickstart our honeymoon! We didn't want to stay in the Piazza San Marco area and instead opted for Canareggio, which was PERFECT! Much quieter and more intimate. Steps away from the train station which was very helpful when we had to leave for Florence. Water taxi from the airport left us right at the back...

I have stayed at this hotel five times over the last 5 years. The location is perfect - ON the Grand Canal and close to the train station, the rooms are very nice and the bar and restaurant never disappoint. Everything is within walking distance and I LOVE to walk in Venice!! Planning my 2018 trip now😜❤️

Hotel with bar and restaurant over looking Grand Canal, staff friendly, room comfortable, dinner good, bar lively. Throughly enjoyed our stay. Hotel was near to the railway station and bus station but with no annoying noise pollution.

Reception was welcoming and our room, although no view (overlooking a small courtyard), it was very clean and the beds were very comfortable. Did not have dinner at the hotel as it was not cheap and we didn't fancy the menu ( plenty of restaurants outside the hotel). The dining room very light and airy and we made sure we...

The hotel and room were both fantastic. Unlike a lot of other hotels the pictures were accurate, if not perhaps even underselling it! The room was extremely big and we had a view of the grand canal. The hotel is out of the main tourist area but only 3mins on foot from The train station, which is brilliant as anywhere...

We booked this hotel with BA Avios which describes it as 3* so we were only expecting a tourist class place and it exceeded our expectations. If you book through the hotel's web site and come expecting a 4* luxury palace then you are 100 years too late and may be disappointed. The room and bathroom were both adequate and...

The room was nicely appointed and very clean. We didn't have a view, but the room itself was comfortable (though like most European hotels, smaller than Americans are used to), the staff was helpful, and we felt very well-treated. The breakfasts were delicious and overlooked the canals, it was easy to get anywhere in Venice on foot, and there's a...

The location of the hotel was a plus point as it was walking distance from the Santa Lucia train station. The rooms were little small but that was not a problem as we hardly stayed in the room. Breakfast Buffet was good & hotels service was superb. The hotel reception staff was very good as they kept our luggage after...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
