Very simple on the outside but once inside this hotel excels with rooms and service. Very friendly and helpful staff. Family room for 4 (2adults 2 kids) was spacious, clean and well decorated. Nice bathroom. FREE WiFi which is what all kids (and adults) search for. Luggage hold until we were ready for the airport. Allowed us in our room...

This a great little hotel in the heart of Venice with a great location close to ATVO transportation with access to Cruise Ships and Airports, as well as the sights of Venice. It's a short walk over a small canal bridge to the hotel entrance which you soon appreciate (especially first time visitors). The Hotel is clean, comfortable and offers...

This hotel is just across the canal from the Pl. da Roma, the square where all ground transport ends! If you have early/late flights and are under pressure to get out of Venice it is ideal. Water transport in all forms in Venice is really expensive so being able to walk to places is a big advantage and not having...

We stayed at the Hotel Olimpia for one night before a cruise. The hotel was easy and inexpensive to reach from the airport via the ATVO bus. We only had to walk across one small bridge with our luggage. It is located close to the water bus stop for easy travel to the major sites. We were very pleased with...

We booked our BA flights and five nights at this hotel through Expedia, staying from 24 - 29 September. I did a lot of research before deciding on this hotel. So many of the hotels near the main sites had negative reviews. We are happy to walk places, so its being "on the edge" was unimportant. What was important was...

Traveling with 4 adults in the room, very pleasant staff, excellent rooms, Was a short stayover before cruise the next day. Lovely just sitting at the tables outside lining the canal. Very close to Piazza Roma bus station after trip from airport. Like most of Venice though, we still had to lug suitcases up one set of steps and down...

If your in Venice, your going to be walking to enjoy the streets, alleyways and ambiance, what you don't want to be doing is dragging your bags around. the location for this hotel is with walking distance from where all the buses unload( you can see it from the bus loop), yes the elevator is small, but that's Europe! beautiful...

We arrived in Venice very early (6:00 a.m.) on Aug 12. We went directly to the hotel where we found a very helpful Robert to assist us. He kindly informed us that we were too early for our rooms but told us we were able to leave all our baggage in storage until we returned later. He told us of...

Staying in Dorsoduro / Accademia

Neighbourhood Profile
Dorsoduro / Accademia
Artsy is the defining mood of this neighbourhood with street artists, students, painters, sculptors, restorers, curators, historians, collectors, heirs and heiresses rubbing elbows. Peggy Guggenheim's collection, now a museum, lures chic locals for evening art aperitifs. Traditionalists and visionaries cocoon in bohemian luxury. La Salute basilica buttresses the neighbourhood to the east. Gondolas bob in the morning light. The Accademia Bridge crosses the Grand Canal. A back street doubles as basketball court. Palaces house residents, or like Ca' Foscari a university, or a museum like Ca’ Rezzonico that attracts Venetians for concerts. Dorsoduro reveals its industrial roots too, in buildings converted to house university departments or exhibitions. Campo Santa Margherita bursts with youthful energy from local students. Foot traffic bustles to and from Piazzale Roma and Santa Lucia train station. Evening commuters pause for an aperitivo. Neighbours exchange confidants in a campo (square) on their way to market.
