The location of this hotel is wonderful. Right where you want to be and if not, then it isn't far to where you want to be. The room we had was small and although there was a lift to our floor, we still had one flight of steps and several other small steps to navigate with our suitcase. Our room...

I booked the 3 bedroom apt. No mention on their website or on booking.com website that this is in another part of town. Looked at all pics from their website and read webpage and no mention this is at another crappy location. Beware

A very good room, well decorated, in a typical venitian style, overlooking the canal. The staff is very professionnal and always smiling, helping you when it's necessary to find a place in Venise and discover Venise, or Murano, Burano etc...

Fantastic water-front, south facing location, wonderful for watching the world go by. Very busy during the day but at night quite peaceful. Hotel staff all excellent. We booked a junior suite deluxe. Originally allocated one of the top floor, un-refurbished rooms and whilst this was still a nice room, we were a little disappointed after seeing the fantastic photos on...

We stayed for 3 nights in March in the economy section of the hotel which is 1 minute around the corner from the main part of the hotel. The room was great for the price we had paid for a prime location in Venice. We had fresh towels everyday when the room was cleaned. The breakfast at the hotel was...

We stayed at the Hotel Savoia & Jolanda appartments (5 minutes walk from the hotel - close to the Acqua Alta library). Spacious and nicely decorated, opening onto a nice courtyard, the flat had all the amenities and wi-fi. We had the option to have breakfast at the hotel too (nice when you arrive late in Venice). The hotel staff...

Nice small hotel at one minute walk to Piazza San Marco. Besides the excellent location we found a really warm and welcoming staff, and a nicely renovated lobby and restaurant. Nice boiserie, not overwhelming and a soft light restaurant for breakfasts and dinners. The junior suite at the third floor, nicely redecorated, has a fantastic view of the Riva degli...

In fairness, I did not get a chance to stay at this hotel. I booked an upgraded room through Liberty Travel (in Massachusetts, USA) in November 2016. I had planned to come to Venice at the end of my February 2017 stay in Italy. While already traveling in Italy, I received notice that my reservation was not available anymore and...

We booked a bargain break with travel zoo for two nights in Venice and because of the price didn't have great expectations, but were very pleasantly surprised. The hotel was on the front overlooking the lagoon, just two minutes away from St. Marks square and very easy to get to from the airport. The reception staff were extremely helpful, courteous...

I was in Venice for Carnaval 2017. Knowing that hotels will be in high demand and expensive, I did a search well in advance and managed to get a room at this lovely hotel at €913 for 7 nights in a standard room with king sized bed in the side wing of the hotel. The online agent had messed up...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
