This is our third stay at this hotel and that says it all. Service is great, location perfect, staff very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is very good. The decor leaves you in no doubt you are in Venice which certainly adds to the experience. The hotel is big on comfort and value.

My friends booked this hotel for a 4 night break last week - my first visit to Venice. Smart, friendly staff, high level of service, comfort, quality and care. My pet hates in an hotel are rooms that are too hot, background noise and heavy duvets that are too warm when on, and too cold when off. This hotel had... More

My husband and I stayed for 2 nights here and loved staying right on a canal! Staff was great, especially Alessio at reception. Rooms are older style but quaint and plenty large enough. Bathroom good but kept door open to prevent dampness. Great location to walk everywhere. Did need to get plastic boots because the streets flood at high tide... More

Hotel Colombina is located on the same canal as the Bridge of Sighs. It is close walking distance to the major sights of Venice. The breakfast buffet is well done in a very cheerful breakfast room. There is a cozy lounge near the lobby and the rooms are clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this... More

This is a great little hotel extremely convenient for St Marks Square and surrounding district. The reception staff were superb in every way and spoke excellent English. Our room was spacious and immaculately clean at all times. We really enjoyed the breakfast which set us up for the day's sightseeing.

Wonderful hotel location with nice staff Only a 3 to 5 minute walk to the St. Mark area. Near lots of restaurant options including Hard Rock Cafe; plus shops of various items. Nice sitting area, small but pretty bar and a cute breakfast area. You can actually take a water taxi right up to the hotel. Will certainly stay here... More

The hotel has its own pier, so it is so convenient to take a private water taxi. The location is excellent, we can easily walk to anywhere we wish. We love our suite with the view of canal and the Bridge of Sigh and watching gondolas as well as hearing the music when they are passing by. Plus, there is... More

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
