We stayed in the Fenice Suite at the Hotel Colombina. The suite was accessed from the lane adjacent to the hotel. It was spacious with 2 good sized bedrooms, a lounge area and bathroom. The beds were comfortable and there was plenty of storage space for cases etc. The shower temperature mixer was problematic and it was difficult to get...

We stayed at Hotel Colombina for two nights in Jan 17 and had an amazing time!! The hotel is beautiful and spotlessly clean!! Centrally located it takes only minutes to reach San Marco. The staff are extremely friendly, polite and attentive. They really are all lovely! We were upgraded to a junior suite on arrival 😀. Our room was beautiful...

Great location, friendly staff and lovely bedrooms! My partner and I visited for both our birthdays and we were not disappointed. We were upgraded on arrival for our special occasion, the staff are extremely helpful and we used TripAdvisor to find some lovely restaurants (Rossopomodoro and De Murano are two great dinner places). The room is spacious, lots of little...

Generally it was very nice stay at Colombina Hotel. We had nice room facing canal, clean, good internet, everything worked properly. Breakfast: limited choice, but for me enough to start a day. There were minor problems - like we got our bottles of water on 3rd day, etc... but it was not something that spoilt our stay there. I booked...

We stay for one night only. Perfect location, extremely helpful staff, clean rooms with nice Venetian deco. The dining area is a bit too small, but breakfast was good with a reasonably wide selection of ingredients. Fresh fruit juices would make a plus.

This is a hotel with character and excellent service. The fact that your luggage is taken up and brought down for you gives it that little extra touch. So is the turning down service. Walking over a bridge with gondolas underneath to reach the hotel is an amazing feeling. It is so conveniently situated to restaurants, shops and Duomo. I'm...

We arrived at the hotel by boat. Our balcony had a great view of a canal. The room was very spacious. The hotel is walking distance from San Marco square, restaurants and shopping. When we return to Venice we will be staying here!

My husband booked this hotel for our Honeymoon, and I'm so glad he did! I knew as soon as we got there he'd picked well. He'd told them we were on our Honeymoon and they surprised us with an upgraded room - a beautiful suite overlooking the water. Everyone was so friendly and helpful. The room was gorgeous and very...

Returned yesterday from 5-night stay. The Colombina was a real find. Only 3 minutes from St Mark's Square and yet very quiet an secluded. Large room, with huge chandelier, comfortable bed and plenty of easy chairs. Good-sized bathroom. The hotel was beautifully warm, which was good as Venice itself was freezing. The Staff were pleasant and most helpful and nearly...

We started searching for hotels in Venice using TripAdvisor, excellent reviews lead us to choose Hotel Colombina. We loved Venice so much that we will be back this year, and we will be staying at Hotel Colombina for sure! Within walking distance from the emblematic Basilica si San Marco about 2 minutes away. Big thanks to Luiza who gave us...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
