Stayed for 2 nights in March. The hotel is perfectly situated right behind St Marks Square on a quiet little side street. We were given a warm welcome by the staff and promptly checked in and shown to our room. The room was small but nice and comfortable, very clean and had everything needed. Couldn't get the air conditioning to...

Great hotel in Venice, which is worth visiting again! My friends and I stayed there last February and enjoyed this experience so much. The staff (especially hotel manager Filippo) was very welcoming and helpful, so we felt free to ask any questions and got help in a short period of time. The room and bathroom were rather comfortable. We also...

This hotel is fabulous, from the minute you walk in the staff can't do enough for you, we booked a twin room which was a nice size for 2 people, beds comfy, nice size bathroom. From reception staff to cleaners & maintenance staff they all had a smile for you, what makes this hotel fabulous is the little touches, the...

Good location for walking everywhere. The staff was great! Very accommodating and patient with all our questions and needs. We stayed during Carnival. We had difficulty finding a hotel last minute and our tour guide knew the owner, Filippo, who had a spacious room (2 bedrooms, large living area, one bathroom, room 501) for our family of 5 at a...

We stayed recently stayed on a 2 day stop of a long euro trip. This was the hotel that I spent the most on on our trip. We decided that in Venice we wanted to splurge a little. The Hotel did not disappoint in location, staff nor with looks. The room is beautiful with plenty of space. The location was...

We changed our booking at the last minute to a room with a shower as we just realised that our room only had a bathtub. Not what we want at all. So maybe that is why we ended up in room number 400. This room is right at the top of the hotel (literally). Almost like an attic room. It...

My family and I spent 4 nights here during Carnival in February. I had a free upgrade to a room with a balcony, overlooking the canal for my special birthday. The room was fantastic, the hotel was fantastic, the staff were fantastic, location was fantastic, breakfast was good and plentiful. Cannot find one fault, except maybe price of drinks in...

Stayed in the front bit - with canal view; but the back bit looked good too. Perfect location- and yet serenely quiet. Great breakfasts, great staff. The little extras ( eg trip to Murano, carnival facepainting, taxi tour) were also much appreciated. Would happily give this our full enthusiastic recommendation.

We loved stayed at the Hotel Colombina for the following reasons: -great location. Central to everything and minutes from St Marks, restaurants shops. -the hotel has its own private canal so you can take a water taxi from the airport (an amazing experience). -staff were friendly, provided loads of info and answered all our questions. -clean and quiet hotel with...

Before we even arrived at the hotel the staff contacted us to assist with the carnival and events that were on. No job was too big or too small. So friendly and helpful. The hotel was in a great location, short walk to everywhere you need to go. The room (canal view) was beautiful and comfy. Breakfast could be better...

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
