Arriving from the train station, this place is not at all hard to find. Francesca graciously met me steps from the hotel, took my bag, and led the way! One should note that, although listed as a B&B on TA, there is no breakfast provided. Upon arrival, Francesca upgraded my room to a very large suite with private bath and...

My wife and I stayed here for 3 nights and this was a great place to stay. The room had pretty basic amenities, but all was adequate! We stayed in a room with a view of the courtyard (which is nice to look at, but not sure if it's accessible by guests). The place isn't that hard to find and...

Had a very pleasant stay at this family run hotel, close to the Grand Canal, railway and bus stations. Good choice of restaurants and bars close by. Fantastic spacious room, with luxurious bathroom. Overall, highly recommended.

Ca dei Polo is a wonderful place to stay in Venice. It's very easy to find from the bus station or the railway station. Francesca couldn't have been more welcoming. I felt very welcomed and cosy here. The room was lovely and clean and the view from the window of rooftops and vines was heavenly.

I booked this place because the reviews were nothing short of fabulous. I cannot actually believe I'm writing this review. But my experience was so terrible I can't not. The establishment does not deserve its high rating. There was a misunderstanding with check in times, communication wasn't clear however those things happen and it's fine. However the manager was terribly...

Stayed for 3 nights. The room was nice, quiet and large for an hotel in Venice. The hotel is well located and nearby the bus and train stations. The hotel does not offers breakfast but there is a small bakery 50 yards away. I will stay there again when I go back to Venice.

I stayed here for 2 nights in March 2017. The rooms are very elegant, including communal areas. The location is excellent, and my single room though small, was as to be expected for me as a solo traveller and represented good value for money during the time of my visit. The only real issue with my stay was that I...

I only stayed for one night but the hotel is very close to Piazzale Roma so excellent location for the airport bus and Vaporetto. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated and the staff are very friendly.

We loved our stay here. It was a really cool old house with a lot of character (apparently built in the 14th c by a duchess)! Had everything we needed and the staff was friendly and helpful. Highly recommend.

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
