This hotel was in the VERY BEST location in Venice. Just around a quiet corner from the hustle of the main area, yet so quiet and peaceful. Ca dei Polo was not the most attractive on the exterior, yet the interior was so fabulous that I could not even believe it!!! We had the most beautiful hotel room that I...

We recently stayed at Ca dei Polo and loved it, we stayed there the night before we joined our cruise ship. It is a perfect location, only 2 bridges from Piazza Roma where the transport hub is, but also right on the canal and 30 minutes walk from St Marks square. We loved the fact it was a bit further...

Just returned from our 16 day Mediterranean cruise. Had the opportunity to stay one night at the Ca dei Polo. What an amazing place! Very quiet, clean and most of all, well situated on a canal that leads to the Grand Canal. It is close to some nice shops where you can buy quality items. The hotel itself is old...

We decided to stay an extra day in Venice after our cruise. What a great decision! This B & B is in a great location and within walking distance from all taxi service, the port, and train station. We found the rooms to be newly renovated and spacious. Beautifully done and the staff warm and friendly! Nice continental breakfast on...

Stayed here evening before our cruise. It is close to Plasa Roma and the train station so you do not have to go far with your bags. Very nice rooms, clean, comfortable beds, with a great roof top terrace to have your breakfast on. Breakfast was truely only a continental style but was good, I would definitely reccomend.

Ca dei Polo is a small but very classy hotel or I would rather call a guesthouse. The room was huge comparing to any other Venice hotel. The ambiance was superb and room decor was good. The room was clean and quite. The front staff was only available till 5pm which was fine with us as we were mainly outdoor....

We lost our hotel card/key (charge for loosing it is 20 euros). This card key has the name of the hotel, their address and the room name/number. This is the key for the main door and your room. Not only there is nobody at the reception past 5 PM, ALL of the room master keys with the room names/numbers are...

Excellent location, 9 room B&B , 1 block from train station and Grand Canal. Recently and professionally remodeled. Elevator. Superb value (for Venice) if you want a springboard location to explore city on your own. The Owner ( and I believe sole employee) goes overboard to arrange transportation and any other needs while you are there. Air Conditioned

Mixed feelings with this B&B. On the one hand, room was luxurious and very clean. Also, quiet and handy location near train. Terrace on roof equally pleasant. On the other hand, staff is only there in the daytime, which is exactly when you're likely to be outside of the hotel visiting, and therefore of least value to you. This was...

I am convinced that people who write an outstanding review of this hotel is either a friend/family member/ or has been compensated in some way. I had a reservation here in June, 2014. I found the location okay and had confirmed I would be there the day before. However, upon arrival the door was locked & I buzzed for someone...

Staying in Santa Croce

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Croce
Santa Croce gained importance as a sestiere (district) when Piazzale Roma was created in the 1930s to bring cars and buses close to the center of Venice. Constitution Bridge spans the Grand Canal linking Piazzale Roma to the train station. This area buzzes with energy from travelers and students. Historic palaces and former industrial buildings house some departments of Ca' Foscari and IUAV Architecture universities. On the Fondaco dei Turchi, Venice's Museum of Natural History offers Venetians prehistoric thrills, plus an overview of lagoon fish and wildlife. The Grand Canal, northern boundary of Santa Croce, is lined with palaces and decorated by the tall green dome of San Simeon Piccolo. Ca' Pesaro attracts Venetians to its contemporary art exhibitions. The Grand Canal exposes only one face of these buildings. On the opposite side, the palace often interacts with a square or a busy street to represent its neighbourhood identity.
