The Arabesque is about 6 minutes walk from San Marco, in a quiet small street. There 3 rooms to be rented with good continental breakfast. The bathroom is in common use, but very clean, as the BB itself is. Paola is a very nice host. I reaaly do recommend if you are looking for a central BB on a reasonable...

We stayed here for 2 nights and had a lovely stay. The directions given were a little tricky for those who have zero knowledge of Venetian streets ( such as us), so do a bit of research on how to get there first. Paula was wonderfully helpful and gave us ferry timetables etc. the place was lovely and clean, as...

Very near Piaza Saint Marco and water bus station. Clean bathroom. Don't trust Google maps on the locations, turn on calle de L'arco detta bon, it would be great to include this in the directions template that Paola send to us.

This accomodation was spotlessly clean and in a great location, only 5-10 mins from both Rialto and San Marco. So it ought to get 5 stars except that there are far too many people accommodated to have a single bathroom (which has the bath/shower and toilet together). When I stayed, there was a family of 6 staying and using the...

Location perfect just behind Piazza San Marco. Easy to find if you print google maps. Close to vaporetto stop San Marco - San Zaccaria. We stayed in the quadrupple room, we could hear everything because we slept with open window, there is no airco just a fan. There is no cleaning and Paola told us that we had to use...

It's really noisy in the morning! I can hear everything outside my room. I stayed here for 2 nights and was waked up by noise around 6 am every morning. The breakfast is poor. No elevator. The owner is not friendly.

location was ok, allthough there was awfull smell on the street. No air-conditioning in rooms and if you kept windows open--Paola ordered to close them. No room cleaning and no planket and towel refreshing. Breakfast was really poor and hosts complained of every little thing, for example if shower curtain was in the wrong side.

The Location is nice, although it's a little bit hard to find. The windows faced very laud street. First of all the host Paola was very unwelcoming, made us very uncomfortable as if we were not paying, but just staying in her place. The breakfst was very poor. She actually served us three joghurts for 4 people! Couple pieces of toast...

Staying in Castello

Neighbourhood Profile
Castello
Castello is the largest of the six sestieri (districts), and the only one not facing onto the Grand Canal. More than half of Castello is situated within Arsenale, the naval base, which occupies over one-fifth the area of Venice. This gentrified maritime neighbourhood feels busy but casual. Castello’s side streets are laid back, with small boats lining canals criss-crossed by laundry. Semiannual exhibitions add a strong artsy current to the Arsenale area. Via Garibaldi in Castello, with its shops and bars, has one of Venice's rare straight and wide boulevards. When a large ship turns around the Lido to enter the Giudecca Canal, the startling sight creates an illusion that it will run aground right on Via Garibaldi! Families treasure Giardini near the island's tip, green with rare trees and grass, and Riva degli Schiavoni is a popular spot for Venetians to take a stroll to watch the sunset.
