This Giorgione has everything I look for in a hotel: a warm and helpful staff, public spaces that invite one to linger and relax, and large, well maintained double rooms with furnishings that are attractive and comfortable. The breakfast offerings are multifarious, and if one happens to prefer a cappuccino to the buffet's self-service coffee and milk, the staff will...

We stayed for 3 nights at Giorgione Hotel and we were on our honeymoon that's why we wanted to see Venice. It was the perfect stay in a lovely room with loads of character and venetian decor. Don't stay in a single unless room is for a child. Reminds one of a prison cell or a nun's room with a chandelier. Size of bathroom good. Nicer than bedroom. Opening window for air into courtyard. Could hear couples talking at night in courtyard. Room 121.

I was pleased during all my correspondence with this hotel. Still, I was surprised at how excellent the staff was when we arrived: perfect English, warm & friendly, and happy to help in any way they could. The lobby and restaurant were beautifully decorated, and had lots of charm and character, as did the room. I felt like I was...

The hotel couldn't be better situated to see all the sites of Venice, it's central to all the major ones. It's 10 minutes from the ferry stop to the airport and the islands of Murano and Burano. Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
