The hotel was convenient being near train and bus station and very central. The hotel was good and reasonably priced. My partner had some business interests and needed help in printing off a PDF completing it and sending it. The guy on reception was amazingly helpful. After the stay we had a weeks cruise - on return we again called...

The first thing to establish this hotel is what it is, a budget hotel for travellers. Do not expect luxury or rooms more than functional and you'll be fine. As a budget hotel for travellers though it is great, 2 minute casual stroll from the station platforms, 1 minute from the water busses (a must purchase even for a day...

The location was good, but that is the only positive. No elevator, just a steep narrow staircase to haul your luggage up and hope it doesn't fall on your head. Not even a flicker of signal in the rooms or lobby so no hope of any wifi. Rooms were tiny and the breakfast range was very limited and unexciting, with...

Dear 137MJay, Venice is an ancient city and the same characteristic have the Hotels: they are ancient palaces. In Venice is very difficult find the elevator (in the website is written that our Hotel doesn't have the elevator). If you have difficulty to climb steps you could ask a room on the first floor. In the reservation is written also...

I left booking a hotel in Venice too late and prices just seemed to keep going up, so I settled for this hotel mainly on price and location. You may be a bit confused by my review, I have mixed feelings about this hotel. Firstly it's so close to the train station, literally a one minute walk, trust me, with...

very friendly stuff I liked that, very good location, no wifi in the rooms ( I think in purpose to push people to get a tour outside). I didn't like the moisture on the walls paper in my room number 30 (extremely disgusting inside a bedroom). I liked the breakfast . I think its a perfect hotel for sleeping and...

We (2 adults & 2 children aged 13&15) stayed here in July 2016. Fantastic place, staff were extremely helpful, polite and entertaining which made us feel very welcome in buzzing Venice. Certainly no language barriers as they spoke English very well. Although a small, somewhat outdated place its good enough if your looking for a budget hotel and want to spend...

There was no elevator. Of course, you have to carry your heavy luggage upstairs by yourself. Lobby was so small, barely accommodate a group of people. Breakfast was just to fill up your hunger. There was an air conditioner. They didn't get me the remote control. I had to keep windows open to cool off the room (don't keep them...

Staying in Cannaregio

Neighbourhood Profile
Cannaregio
Cannaregio is the second largest sestiere (district) with its busy Santa Lucia train station. Many transplanted Venetians commute from the outlying areas, “terra firma” to the locals, which is shorthand for any place that is not Venice. Two Grand Canal bridges serve Cannaregio, the newest (Constitution, 2008) still a local hotbed of controversy. Ponte degli Scalzi is a busy link to the train station. Nearby shops on the Lista di Spagna offer specialties like pastries and coffee that lure Venetians with a down-to-earth attitude. The Ghetto, where the Jewish population was segregated in Cannaregio, has five historic synagogues with an active Jewish community. The Fondamente Nove bustles with foot traffic to the Rialto and San Marco while vaporettos (water taxis) head to Murano and other islands. Side streets lead into quiet picturesque neighbourhoods and palaces like Ca' d'Oro rise directly out of the water.
