This is a charming well located hotel that prides itself on customer service. For example, for our Christmas lunch for six, the concierge called more than 10 restaurants to find a place for us, refusing to send us to a mediocre restaurant. Our small children were each given a kind Christmas gift of a teddy bear with chocolates. They declared...

The owners of this hotel should wish that they could clone their manager Andrea Scarpa. Even before we arrived in Venice we had so many questions and Andrea and his staff always gave immediate and thorough responses. In fact, they had all the e-mails when we arrived! We took advantage of their picking us up at the airport and arranging...

After the initial disappointment on the room, booked on line and the Junior Suite didn't correspond, this was immediately and beautifully corrected and the rest of the stay was perfect. All the staff were extremely attentive, front desk, breakfast team and most importantly the Concierge - extremely well informed and incredibly helpful - he made the stay special and effortless....

Our family room was just the right size. The plentiful breakfast filled up my boys before we hit the town. The location was perfect for all that we wanted to see. We particularly loved the complimentary boat ride to Murano, to watch the glass blowing.

I stayed here on the 21st December for two nights with my mum and nan and this hotel was superb! Right in the heart of the city. The staff were all extremely lovely and helpful. The concierge Andrea was especially helpful in planning a whole day of activities for us. We spent one evening in the hotels bar and the...

This character-filled hotel proved to be a great location - close to San Marco and a comfortable walk to the Rialto bridge and other Venetian gems. The staff are kind, helpful and attentive. The concierge gave excellent tips for our days and nights in Venice. Location is perfect. Rooms are very comfortable, although a bit tight on space. The hotel restaurant which is also open to the public, is very lively and serves very good food. The breakfast is incredible!

Staying in San Marco

Neighbourhood Profile
San Marco
The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.
