We had a wonderful stay at Hotel Saturnia & International. The location was excellent. The staff was warm and friendly. Breakfast was very good and the cappuccino amazing. I would definitely stay here again.
A good comfortable hotel in a central location. The staff are very helpful and attentive. They can give advice and also organise trips. The guests are made up of different Nationalities giving it a cosmopolitan feel. There is a roof garden which provides somewhere to...More
I stayed here with my husband for two nights in Venice in September, and I highly recommend this accommodation. The location is excellent, on a quiter street within a 5-minute walk of Saint Mark's square. Service is impeccable. Staff was very helpful and accommodating to...More
I can't say enough wonderful things about the Hotel and the Staff. This was my second visit---fifteen years apart--and I felt like I was coming home, so welcoming and warm were the staff. The location is convenient and the Hotel has a private dock making...More
Very helpful staff. Made our stay easy. The location was great and the staff provided us with helpful information. The bar downstairs was fun at night. We were here only a couple of days, but wished we could have stayed longer. Thanks

The most famous sestiere (district) in Venice has one of the world's most famous squares, St. Mark's (Piazza San Marco). Anchored on one end by the basilica, clustered around it are restaurants, museums, shops, orchestras playing in the square, pigeons, the grand pink Doge’s Palace (Palazzo Ducale), the soaring campanile bell tower, an astrological clock tower, plus gorgeous cafes and restaurants like Florian and
Quadri. Piazza San Marco is beloved by Venetians themselves. They book a table anytime, which offers a buffer from the fray. This grand outdoor drawing room attracts Venetians for a stroll too, especially late in the afternoon when the hoards of daytrippers thin out. It's simply a grand place to meet.

I would take the private water taxi for easy access. If you are able to or willing to walk with luggage for 15 minutes, I would take the vaporetto to St. Mark.s Square and then easily follow the street going west thru the square to the hotel. There are also other stops that would be even closer to the hotel...you would need to study their schedule to determine that as I cannot recall them at this time.

our rooms are not equipped to cook anything in it but if you are interested, there some kettles in any floor, with a selection of different tea bags and some instant coffee.

Others have answered your vaporetto questions but I suggest that you hang the expense as a water taxi is a great way to arrive (and the vaporettos can be very busy/crowded). Hop on and pay on board - there will be someone there to guide you. Look out for a teak rather than white one, the former is so much more cool! Hotel Saturnia has its own jetty however I'm not sure if a water taxi could get to it, just gondolas. If not, the nearest dock is just by St Mark's Square (and near to the vaporetto station). The hotel is about 10 minutes walk from there across St Mark's. It'll depend on the amount of luggage you have as to whether you'll need a porter - it's flat apart from steps up the few bridges you have to cross. You can download a very useful Venice map from Google to your smart phone to find your way (off line version so it doesn't need an internet connection) but its pretty easy to find the hotel - look for a wrought iron ship above La Caravella on the right and you're there. Sure, we paid more for taxis but when in Venice....
The service at the hotel is absolutely second to none, by the way. Don't miss a sun-downer cocktail on the roof terrace. There is also a magnificent designer department store near the Rialto Bridge (Google T FONDACO DEI TEDESCHI BY DFS) - a lovely converted building and they have a roof terrace that overlooks the canal/city which you can get to free of charge, passing through a funky function room with a glass floor that's actually the ceiling for the main store. Drinking/eating in St Marks is as expensive as its reputation but you don't have to walk back many streets to find good value. Enjoy!
